All's well that ends well. OSU made their last 4 shots. ASU missed their last 5.
Great performance by Marie G. Nice play by Madi, Mik and Taylor as well. Held ASU to 8 points in 4Q.
Jo played well in her minutes. Continuing to show improvement.

Bench showed up to play!
Coach has got them working on support for the guards bringing up the ball and so far it's working.
Switched to good mid-range shots that just didn't fall in the first half.
I got the feeling of a coach that was trying different things to see how they'd work.
Really good win considering the Beav's were usually 5 on 6 with coach Thorne running around out there most of the first half, think the ref's must have finally said something because she kept herself under control the 2nd half.
Glad those un-athletic Beav's managed the win. What luck!!!
Or did a hard working team and a good coach have something to do with it? We will never know.

Something to think about... Kat Tudor did not get off a single shot tonight against ASU..... If this does not change dramatically on Sunday against Arizona we will most likely see either Maddie W. or T. Kalmer getting Kat's floor time... Until she learns to dribble penetrate she remains a perimeter shooter who can't shake free. This is not a good for her or the team.
Keep at it Kat.......GO BEAVS..... ---------------------------------------

so many mistakes....by running Ann Schatz. Did you know Marie was now 5th leading shot blocker in Pac 12 for ASU? There's more but I have PTSD
Foul on the last 3? No question Charlize told them flop after the shot. But there looked to be some contact
Is Kalmer our piece bring the ball up court vs pressure? She did it once vs USC and was quick quick quick. I think she could be effective

I think she could be effective I agree... Kalmer is probably our best ball handler and is very fast. She flew down the court one time tonight about as fast as I've seen anyone doing it with the dribble... so fast you could hear the crowd reacting to it.

I look for Kalmer to get the starting nod from SR. Hopefully Kat will be able to get some good looks coming off the bench. At this point Kalmer is playing better if all facets of the game. Maddie had a strong game too and I look for her to receive more playing time.

Maddie had a strong game too and I look for her to receive more playing time. It's not like anyone else is playing close to error free. At least Taylor makes her mistakes playing all our and not out of hesitation. Kat seems to be better suited for spot duty and instant offense. She seemed quite down last night. Scott gave her the nod at the beginning of the 4th and she promptly committed to's in under 45 sec. Because it's a message board we can "pretend" to give SR coaching advice... hence, I'd like to see him change up the offense a bit. At least have a secondary look to relieve pressure. In my experience the easiest way to ease pressure on guards that might be over matched in quicks is make your players "hard to guard". Bringing players together with weaves and high ball screens brings defenders to the ball and limits court spacing. It is much easier for defenders to be aggressive and limits offensive player movement. OSU also tends to eliminate interior spacing with multiple low screens that really clogs the middle where many interior passing lanes are essentially impossible to utilize. That is all good when you are playing power ball, but we need a combo of interior play that includes our guards. The key last night was a small run of straight line drives by the guards that took advantage of open interior lanes. We were harder to guard because we had choices versus just the lateral movement and interior screens. I'd like to see SR implement a bit of a "4 out" look with more room for straight line drive/kicks and back door cuts. We have the strength and enough quicks to hurt people IF they actually have to guard both laterally and vertically. It is a pretty easy offense to implement as it goes to the basics of passing and cutting rotations with a big rotating from low to high... creating space for other and herself while also setting back picks. It would also isolate Marie more with less congestion around her. Anyway... we do have some deficiencies in our guard play, but we seem to also be playing into those deficiencies in what we do offensively. Our court spacing is allowing additional pressure in how we are running some of our sets. Need a sweep! Go Beavs
