Two gritty wins in a row. Thanks beavs. Good to see. Merry Christmas everybody. Shouldn’t have been this gritty but a win is a win. We’ll see soon how good this team will really be this year. Jacksonville State and St. Louis are the two best teams that Oregon State has played since Orlando. Jacksonville State is not a bad team. If they played in the Pac-12, they would probably finish in the middle of the conference. All wins are great wins. The schedule is so weak (335th out of 351 teams) that Oregon State basically needs to go 11-7 in conference at a minimum to have a snowball's chance to go to the Dance and that is assuming that the Beavers sweep the rest of their non-conference games. Of the Power Six conferences, only Georgetown, NC State, and Rutgers have played a softer non-conference slate.

We outrebounded SLU 35-31 We held them to 44% shooting overall, and 28% from deep. We had fewer turnovers (12-15) We shot 50 percent (10-20) from the floor and 78% (14-18) on FTs in the second half. Our reserves outscored theirs 16-10. If that's being outplayed and outcoached, I'll take some more of it.

Oh, OK. Must have missed your comment about the second half.

It's pretty easy to sit back until the game is over, cherry-pick statistics that fit your agenda and then lob in a snide remark about someone else who was posting real time during the game. Kudos to you sir! SLU plays an ugly brand of basketball. And we were "out-ugly-ing" them for long stretches. It was frustrating to watch.

We look at a game differently, that's all. I choose to evaluate the entire nine innings, 60 minutes or 40 minutes, and not rush to judgement because we're down six points with 10 minutes to go in the first half. I think it's better to look at the whole.
Coaches are judged not only on how they prepare, but on how they adjust to the game as it progresses. I'd say Tinkle adjusted far better than Ford did.
And, if taking stats from the second half is cherry-picking to fit my agenda, can't the same thing be said about taking stats from a small portion of the first half?

How am I gonna get second half #statsareforlosers during the first half of a game? It looks like you are having a difficult tracking the logic here, so I'm just going to let this one go. As much as I'd like to spend my time today trying to get you to understand what it means to post "real time" during a game, it doesn't look like I'm capable.

As much as I'd like to spend my time today trying to get you to understand what it means to post "real time" during a game, it doesn't look like I'm capable. There is a lot of that 20/20 hindsight / cherry picking "logic" going on with a few around here. A 63-60 ugly win over a ugly St Louis team, have not played a true road game, 1-2 on neutral sites vs middling talent (SJU being the only good team), and a very inconsistently played 8-3 vs a schedule ranked about in the 270s seems to have some twitterpated. Yes... a win. and, 8-3 is better than last year... WOW! But, the Pac12 overall is not weak... in comparison to OSU and our schedule. OSU is the 3rd weakest team by many measures, with only Cal and Furd beneath us in some areas, and OSU having the Pac12's weakest SOS (currently 273, high of 111, low of 297 on the NCAA site). So, with that schedule, playing only 4 teams with winning records... SJU the best (RPI 20/SOS 76), Wyoming (RPI 65/SOS 131), Jacksonville St (RPI 157/SOS 194), S.Utah (RPI 58/SOS 289), gosh we should be at least 8-3. The 8-3 is good... I thought 9-3 would be great, but it's a real mixed bag. Comparing to last year is ridiculous. The way we've played, JM suddenly leaving, and the lack of significant overall improvement with long periods of inconsistent low basketball IQ play leaves me thinking 8-4/9-3 will be the high point of this season. I get this gut wrenching feeling Pac12 play being in the 4-6 win area. No excuses... this is year 4... we should be looking better vs this schedule in prepping for Pac12 play.

I certainly know what it means to post in "real time."
I saw several such posts from you when things were going bad. I saw none whatsoever when we outplayed SLU over the final 10 minutes to win that game. Capable of understanding that?
