Why!?!?!?! Money? No formal offer from CJS?
Edit: could this just be a negotiating ploy by his agent? Bad information?

I'm guessing its more money and definitely more exposure. He wants to be a HC, staying there makes sense.

Willie was staying until he wasn't.......KH is under contract until the season is over. 12/16
We should know after that.
Go Beavs!!

Go Beavs!! True. He could be handling it professionally and just be saying all the right things, the toilet seats are his current employer after all. I’d like him on staff in SOME capacity. I trust CJS, and if he did offer Heyward and he refused, I’d much rather have people at OSU who want to be there.

How you gonna keep 'em down on the farm, once they've been to Paree?
Heyward knows what it's like coaching here, having done so. He did stints at uw and sc, so he knows how the conference works. Looville likely broadened his recruiting map and exposure as a coach. That plus his Pac 12 knowledge got him the job with Taggart. It seems he has been chasing both money and opportunity throughout his coaching career. If he wants to be a head coach some day, that is the path, and it's hard to find fault with that goal. He would unlikely accept a side move to an unproven staff unless this is also his "dream job at the dream school in the dream town". If the DC position is not there for him, I don't see him joining the staff. The big question is whether or not he is ready to handle that job. I guess we'll find out when he re-signs with tsdtr, or resigns after the Vegas Bowl to join the Beavs.

Well, he certainly isn't going to tell his players that he will be leaving to go to OSU after the bowl game. For now he has to play the "yeah, I'm staying!" card. So until after the bowl game, you can't really trust anything.
Agree that he doesn't come over unless he is offered a DC position. I'll trust Niner to make that decision in terms of KH being ready for that role. If he's got a better DC lined up and is just waiting for the bowl games to be over, then I'll support that decision. Defensively, we suck, so we need the best person we can get at that job.

As much as I like KHJ from his days as a player, it’s possible the DC from Wyoming is actually a better fit... (?!?) Don’t know. There has to be a reason the Eggers article touched on thatWill be interesting to see what Coach Johnathan Smith decides to do, and I’m sure what he decides will work out very well for us.

He'd be a home run hire imo, not necessarily at DC, but because he is one of the single best recruiters in southern california in the entire nation.

The key word in that message is "likely".

Maybe he's waiting for Leavitt to make his decision public.
