Which means you can't pay the guy $1 or $60,000, which have been suggested here. Pay him $200,000 and call it good.

I just had a small epiphany. The fans totally losing it over us rehiring Riley remind of something I had to deal with in my first job out College.
I had just graduated from Oregon State with a degree in Computer Science. I got hired by a small company here in Portland. About 6 months after I was hired I was asked to help with interviews for another hire.
I asked him what sort of questions I should ask and what sort of person we were looking for. He said "Never hire someone who is smarter than you. That way they can never be in a position to take your job." It was because of this that I immediately started looking for another job. (To be fair that was not the only thing that was "Off" or "hinky" about working there. ) Looking back the mere fact that a less than 1 year graduate was doing interviews should have tipped me off that things weren't right at that company but it was my first real job so I didn't know what to expect. About 6 months after I left the company went under and everyone was fired. (To be fair this was right after the Tech crash in 2000 so you can argue with the reasons for the company failing.)
I am a firm believer that you can never be great if you don't work with great people. I am also a firm believer in business culture. So I can understand those who have concerns about how that would work with Riley coming back. But the posters who freak out about Riley coming back most definitely remind me of my old boss.

Nail on the head here. I'd take a team with a full staff of former Head Coaches, if they were willing to work together. Almost all of them were very good OC and DC before getting the HC gig. Seems to me Coach Andersen was never a good DC, hmmm interesting.

Jake Dukart seems OK with the hire.
"It's cool about Coach Riley. I couldn't be happier with that. What a great addition to the staff, to get his veteran mind-set, the maturity he brings with so many years as a coach. With Coach Smith, Coach Riley and Coach Lindgren, it's like three quarterback gurus. It's a great situation for me coming in as a quarterback."

Without a doubt a GOOD offensive line could be the solution to a LOT of our problems. It's been a long time since we had one and we haven't been very good since we last had one. I'm all for a good QB and an offensive scheme but without some quality horses up front it's all for naught. That's why I like the UA coach hire and hoping he can bring back a former strength. It's hard for me to think you can have too many offensive lineman to draw from during the course of a season.
