Seeing how this is a state job I wonder if they will adhere to the laws regarding posting of the job, adhere to all state hiring guidelines, interview minority candidates etc... or if they just come out and name someone as the head coach. I know when Riley left back in 2014 in late November OSU had to adhere to these laws before GA was named HC. Gotta imagine state hiring laws sometimes aren't compatible with early signing periods Of course they could just name Cristobal or Levitt interim coach, keep their prize recruiting class (that will dwindle now) and then go for the permanent hire after all laws are met. Couldn't have happened to a better school to have 3 coaches in a 2 year period! You're worried that the school that hired a minority coach one season ago might not interview a minority candidate? We hired Andersen like three days after his last game with Wisconsin and only five days after Riley absconded to Nebraska, so I would think it would've been pretty hard for us to seriously consider other candidates....primarily because there was no indication whatsoever that Riley was thinking about leaving. I'm all for bashing the Ducks, but let's find better reasons to do it. I don't think that was his point. Just it takes time to do it properly and right now there is no extra time.

Yes that was my point. Someone posted previously about all the hoops that need to be jumped through to fill a state level job and for their contingency plans I was curious if just naming a permanent coach right now suffices for those laws/regulations.

So... I think it's Sumlin as the early leader in the clubhouse. I don't think promoting Cristobal or Leavitt happens. One or both go to FSU I think.. If it's not Sumlin - Who ya got? Don't see Harsin in the mix this time around. I still got Wilcox. They just got burned by an outsider. I think they return to hiring one of their own.

I get what the point was, but was anyone worried about us jumping through all those hoops when Andersen was hired? It just seems like we'd be getting in a huff over something we'd do ourselves (or possibly already did) if given the opportunity.

Teams tend to overreact in the other direction (look at Nebraska going from Pelini to MR!). Player's coach to the disciplinarian. Offensive coach to defensive coach.. I can see them making sure they don't get burned again on an outsider plus could offer him a big time pay bump. I think he's lowest paid coach in conference correct?

Quick question about Coach buys outs... I have read a couple places that WIllie Taggart owes the ucks $3 million, as in personally... Does FSU just cover that?

The buyout is closer to $4.5 million though because the ucks paid USF a $1.5 million buyout for Willie. They are going to be recoup that from FSU.
