Two things watching a little of the live stream. The Eagles announcer has call the Beavs the ducks at least twice already. Crowd of maybe 50, with quite a bit of orange mixed in.

I believe I also heard one of them say the difference between 5'10" and 6'8" was 1'2".

Excellent game for all players to get some minutes (because it's a blowout). Will be interesting to see if there is any 2nd half letdown, with such a big lead.
Grymek looking quite smooth. Free throw form very nice. Good flow near basket (against MUCH smaller matchup)

It's only halftime - so only a few minimalist observations.
1. NCCU is a very weak team, with virtually no PAC 12 athletes. 2. Coach R will have to force the Beavs to run their offence because NCCU defence is so weak that the perimeter is open with just open pass. 3. The home announcers might understand a little bit about basketball, but nothing they have said confirms it. They are well below sub-standard.
GO BEAVS....

Is it me, or is Marie missing more free throws compared to previous seasons?

NCCU announcers have given up with adding State to Oregon and are only calling us Beavers about half the time.

Final 97-44. Not sure we learned much. Probably good for Jo's confidence.

Give them a break. I'm sure the locals consider them entertaining, and judging from the home crowd there, I imagine they have an audience measured in the dozens. They probably are doing it for coffee money.

They probably are doing it for coffee money. I found them to be pretty entertaining. But, I often find announcers like that more appealing than the "professionals" that usually call games. I even found out that NCCU is where the fast break started, not those lousy Lakers.

They probably are doing it for coffee money. Official attendance was 219. I enjoyed the ball movement again today that resulted in a lot of open looks against an overmatched opponent in NCC. The Beavs shot 60% from the field overall and 50% (13/26) from beyond the arc. The first four games of the '17-'18 offer a limited sample set so far, but the '17-'18 squad may have the best collection of shooters as a group that I have seen at OSU. Tudor, Pivec, McWilliams, Kalmer, and Goodman have each demonstrated an ability to stretch the floor offensively by converting trifectas at an efficient rate. Kudos to Tudor on her 23/11 double-double today and to Grymek for going 7/7 from the field, grabbing 6 boards, and blocking 3 shots in 17 minutes of action. www.osubeavers.com/news/2017/11/22/womens-basketball-beavers-soar-past-eagles-in-first-road-game.aspxwww.osubeavers.com/boxscore.aspx?id=10197&path=wbball

Ron Callan's postgame interview with sophomore Kat Tudor is accessible below. Tudor contributed her first collegiate double-double (23 points, 11 boards) during this afternoon's 97-44 road win over North Carolina Central. As usual, Tudor smiles often and appears genuinely excited for the opportunity to speak with Callan again.

- I liked the announcers. Their hearts were in the right place. - Sad but true, thanks to the 'ucks football "success", Oregon to those not paying attention is the 'ucks - Our bigs need to hit FTs. Area of concern when they are facing similar size and more contact - Outside shooting is quite good when given space and time. Kat sure ate her wheaties today (11 defensive boards!).... - I would really like to see KTMac have a "breakout" game - we will need the mismatches she presents, but only if she is willing - Taylor Kalmer might be the most improved Beaver, on O and D, and that is saying something - We are slow and indecisive on our interior passes - when a big flashes open, we need to hit them decisively (OK, we were pretty good going over the top, but I needed to be critical of something) - Forward position remains a concern, but improving (4 of 9 and 12 boards in 45 minutes between Maddie, Taya and Janessa) - Good game for Aleah to learn some passing lessons (5 TOs) - Good way to start out on the road!
Go Beavers!

Hated having to miss this one while I was at work. Please tell me we blocked people out when the shot went up. That’s the only area we weren’t good at vs the Irish

2ndGenBeaver -- you made several points that I was going to comment on, so I'll just piggyback off some of what you said......
- I liked the announcers. Their hearts were in the right place. [You're far more generous on this topic than I am. The responsibilities (job description) of a sports announcer are far beyond merely having your heart in the right place. Announcers are supposed to describe and explain the game they are announcing... Throwing around ignorant comments, not knowing the names of team players or worse, the team itself, mis-representing what is happening on the court are all gross and unacceptable deficiencies. Yes, they were folksy; yes, they had a few bantering points. These, in no way, excuse their total ineptitude in calling the game. They were lousy in every regard. Period. No matter where their hearts are.]
- I would really like to see KTMac have a "breakout" game - we will need the mismatches she presents, but only if she is willing. [I'm with you on this one! I am, however, rapidly coming to the conclusion that Katie simply cannot attack the basket on the dribble. This is her third year and she had never shown the ability. She has a lot of strengths, she is a great asset to the team, but her offensive game is seriously restricted. How will she have a real breakout game? Not sure. She's added a turn around jumper to her repertoire. I'm a big fan of Katie. But she can't dribble penetrate worth a damn. And until she can she will not have a breakout game.]
- Taylor Kalmer might be the most improved Beaver, on O and D, and that is saying something [I'm with you on this one also. Like many of us I've been waiting for her game to arrive and I think it has.]
- Forward position remains a concern, but improving (4 of 9 and 12 boards in 45 minutes between Maddie, Taya and Janessa) [The forwards are the weak position on this team. No question in my mind. Really hoping for increased productivity from them. Shutting down perimeter shooters is one of the easiest assignments for an opposing coach. However, it is done at the cost of giving Forwards and Posts increased scoring opportunities. If the Forwards can't capitalize, you're screwed. Watch Duke on Sat. - this is exactly what they will do - or at least, try to do !!]
- Good game for Aleah to learn some passing lessons (5 TOs) [Again, I'm with you. Her instinct to dribble out of trouble - and into trouble - will get Coach's attention immediately.]
- Good way to start out on the road! [You got that right !!]
Over and out......
