Dont think it was supposed to be a pass.. on the replay you saw Garretson wanting to hand off to Nall but either he turned the wrong way or Nall went wrong direction. I agree. I think it was suppose to be a run/pass option play, but I do not think anyone on the offense thought the pass option would be done. That is why the pass timing was off and the wide receiver that received the pass appeared to run a poor route. When the QB and running back went opposite directions the next best choice was to try for the pass option on the play.

Still all counts as a 44 yard pass, even if Nall ran the huge majority of it. Lol... but you're point was that the TD passes were not "short" and countered with a "44 yd" pass. It is statistically, but it was 5yd pass, 39 yd run. You knew the point that was being made, you countered only to really prove the poster's point. And, overall to try to defend DG as QB is a losing proposition. He's bad and other teams know it. Kinda like our defensive scheme and adjustments.

BeaverNut is just a *uck troll who just tries to annoy people, hence his defense of DG, our worst QB since sometime before Jonathan Smith (I was too young to follow OSU football before him). I would even take Collins over DG since he at least makes our running game better. DG ruins both our passing and running games with his terrible handoffs and throws.

Your ragging on DG is annoying to me. It does not make you look very good in my estimation. Your accuracy is extremely questionable as BeaverNut has only given us reason to believe he is a positive beaver fan.

I have to admit some, many actually, of his posts are so out there a case could be made that he's just screwing with us.

DG > Mark Olford

Who is Mark Olford? And maybe I've just been spoiled my entire life having Smith, Anderson, Moore, Canfield, Moavao, Mannion, and McMaryion, but DG does not look like a power 5 QB to me. I think he would be better with his handoffs if he took his glove off of his off hand, and if he had a decent coach teach him how to throw a spiral he would be a decent game manager. But because he hasn't had a coach to develop his skills, he has killed our offense when he has played these past 2 years. I thought he looked pretty good at Minnesota last year when he started, but I'm not sure if he got hurt, had some sort of mental block in his head from getting destroyed that game or what, but he hasn't looked the same since then, and hasn't looked good since then as well. Luton on the other hand was hurt by the coaching. They tried having him do some read-option plays where he is not a read-option QB at all. He is a pocket passer and with some more experience, he would have been a very solid QB for us (experience and adding some touch to his throws).

Olford was an option quarterback brought in (I think) in Pettibone's first year. He was listed at 5'9, 155#. He took a startling number of snaps his first two years. He was probably the worst passer of all those quarterbacks from that era. By his 5th year, he was maybe 190# and a decent tailback.

I have only heard stories about the Pettibone era, because I was too young to remember anything from back then.

Did Mark Olford not know the plays? Because that's about what i can say for DG. And that's no joke. Put in Moran or somebody who doesn't actually know the playbook and you will see even more turnovers and failed execution.

Olford was a quarterback from the 1991 and 1992 teams that transitioned to a wide receiver and then transitioned into a TB. He was basically the starter in 1992 that paved the way for the Shanklin/Muhammad era of 1993-1994 (8-14!) that followed. Olford finished 25/77 (32.5%) for 363 yards and a 61.7 QB Rating. Ed Browning went 13/43 (30.2%) for 171 yards and a 54.3 QB Rating under Pbone, but he was a Kragthorpe holdover. Rahim Muhammad finished 23/88 (26.1%) for 505 yards and a 81.7 QB Rating. Adrian Woodson went 2/13 (15.4%) for 29 yards and a 34.1 QB Rating. Riley made him a TE, when he came in.
