i’ve been texting my bro who has been updating. It’s thehalf with us up 51-21. It is weak competition , but I would say The team is looking good. Good defense and lots of good offense. Grymek gets winded and can’t play long spells. Katie could have scored on a drive but passed off... a bit disappointing. Thropay and Washington had opportunities to be aggressive on offense under the basket but didn’t take advantage. That’s the big weakness I see so far... no power forward.

Thanks for the great updates. An opportunity lost for WBB program to further enthuse an already enthusiastic fan base with some streaming video. At least we got the highlights thanks to @thickhead....much appreciated!
Go Beavers!

Thanks very much for the updates. Nice play by play, as well as inserted comments. Did not like to hear that Grymek may not be a positive offensive force, but, the Staff will sort that out. Nice observation on Taya , hope you are right about her potential... she could be a great one. 90 points, first time out, is pretty impressive - especially with all of the mixing and matching throughout the game. I will look up actual stats on athletic site. Thanks again !

Just relaying text messages. However, the individual at the game (beavsteve) says "I think we have a solid team".

Sorry for the delay. Waiting for my pizza at American Dream before heading back to Beaverton. I was not at all disappointed in the team. I liked the hustle and ball movement to get open shots. D was pretty solid. As I had said, I see the biggest need as being improvement at power forward. Taya seems to have the most potential. Janessa and Maddie didn’t show improvement to me. Pivec played most at point guard with McWilliams playing there early.. Kalmer playing some late. Though texting was distracting, I think Kalmer’s D was pretty good, her offense very good. She did not show the hesitation I saw last year. Any questions?

Gulich looked strong and agressive. She ran the floor very well on the break too. She is very important to this team. Grymek, as we thought, is a bit of a project

Grymek, as we thought, is a bit of a project What I don't understand is why we don't have KM at 6'2" playing inside. We need some more talented height in there, especially if MW and JT are not showing up. From your updates, it sounds like KM didn't do an awful lot in this game. I say play her down low and see if she can be useful there.

Katie Mac did a lot of distributing. She passed up a sure layup to pass off, resulting in no bucket. I don’t think she would work out inside. She needs to continue being a perimeter player but add the ability to take it to the hoop and finish.

www.osubeavers.com/news/2017/11/5/womens-basketball-beavers-knock-off-concordia-in-exhibition.aspxCORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's basketball team earned a 90-47 win Sunday afternoon in an exhibition matchup with Concordia. Senior Marie Gulich led the Beavers with 21 points, going 9-for-12 from the floor and finishing with nine rebounds. Sophomore Kat Tudor hit five 3-pointers to finish with 19 points, while junior Taylor Kalmer tallied 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Sophomore Mikayla Pivec finished the afternoon with an unconventional double-double, tallying 12 assists and 11 rebounds to go with seven points and five steals. Junior Joanna Grymek and freshman Taya Corosdale rounded out the group of five Beavers in double-figures with 10 points apiece. "I've liked what I've seen from this group from day one," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "I thought we defended well this afternoon. This team gives you everything they have, and their expectations are high. I was really pleased with the effort today." As a team, the Beavers shot 52.9 percent from the floor, while holding the Cavaliers to 34.5 percent shooting. Oregon State held a 46-26 advantage in rebounds. Oregon State jumped in front right from the start, scoring the first 14 points of the game and holding Concordia scoreless for the opening five minutes of the contest. Tudor went 3-for-4 from long range in the first quarter, as the Beavers jumped out to a 26-7 lead in the opening 10 minutes. OSU would continue to control the matchup in the second frame, as Tudor hit a layup at the buzzer to send the Beavers to the locker room with a 51-21 advantage. Gulich scored nine points in the second quarter to bring her first-half total to 14. The second half featured more of the same, as Oregon State led 68-30 at the end of the third quarter, on its way to the 43-point win.

Also wanted to say I was impressed with Pivec. She is stepping it up, being agressive and a leader. She will be a good point guard.

Taya played tight, especially early, better later in the game. Big thing was her ability to feed the ball to MG and MoJo up high and on the mark. Something last year eluded is. MG and MoJo then kept the ball high, neither brought the ball down at all. Marie especially ran the court really well, Jo was getting up the court in transition better than I was expecting.
