I have a hope with DG at the helm and Seth getting some more rest. Those two alone can cause the D to think twice. We may beat the spread on the UW game. I'm thinking we will be a 17+ point dog. Money line may be a nice cheap thriller to all you degenerates. USC, Sept 28th 2008 type stuff? Good thing is, brothers and sisters...we all love the Beavers. Don't lose sight on what's important in life. It's very comforting going to Corvallis to be with the all the black and orange. It reminds us all of great days of being in school and the friends that we made and still have. Life if good is in Corvallis no matter what the score. We are all surrounded by friends and others that share a common bond. We love the Beavers no matter what. FTD!

I'm sure most of us have faced adversity (being Beaver fans and all) but it's how we respond to adversity that makes us who we are...
We can soak in self pity, make excuses and point fingers (as some on this board do) or we can persevere and work to get better - I know that's what this staff and players are doing.
I choose to support the staff and players...
Go Beavs!

We are giving up an average of 18 points per game off turnovers - that can be fixed...

Players always deserve support and allegiance until they behave in a way to disgrace the school, team, and community. The "staff" behind the scenes is basically in the same situation as the work for the coaches. As for the coaching staff, they are NOT Beavers through and through. They came here for a paycheck and need to prove they have the capability to improve both the players and program. This staff, GAG as the CEO, has failed at every level up to this point and the ongoing discussions about his/their shortcomings are indeed getting old. BUT, they do not deserve blind support. Fans attend to see players play. Coaches are to be their mentors, teachers, leaders in providing players with the opportunity to succeed. It not only hasn't happened to this point, there is absolutely no evidence it going to change.
The situation at OSU is no different than any other school that has not been successful. If you're in a job and not getting results you are typically given time to show improvement/improve and then your gone if it does not happen. In the mean time there are people who are unhappy. In a public job that involves 1000's it is even more magnified and as a coach you are well aware of the situation... you get more credit than you deserve when you win, and too much when you lose. It's how it works, and always will.

I'm not being a smart-ass, but WHAT CAN'T be fixed? Execution is one thing, but the Beavs have been out-manned at times this year. Especially last week. Wazzu simply had better players on the field. That takes recruiting and time. A team can offset talent with scheme.. but I don't see that happening. I just don't.

That takes recruiting and time. A team can offset talent with scheme.. but I don't see that happening. I just don't. the cougs didn't out talent the beavs. The cougs didn't just line up and win so many more match-ups that each play was like Varsity vs JV. That's not to say that will not happen when the beavs play SC for example but that is not what happened at wazzu. Yes they have better receivers than our corners and safeties. That talent gap is real. Even that could have been somewhat offset with better technique better luck with penalties and having enough experience to disguise coverages. No, what is killing the beavs in every game so far is a lack of cohesion. There is simply no unifying thread in the game plan, in the blocking motivation (what do the linemen eat today, steak and grits to win the point of attack for a run game or yogurt and salmon to be quick on their feet and coordinate a clean pocket for Jake?), in the go for it or punt logic (dead horse). So the beavs get up there without a clear idea of what they will do or enough coordination to gather forces when it's obvious the cougs are marshmallowy goodness in the middle of their Defense: lets's pound the crap out of them and take turnovers and holding penalties out of the equation. There is just no rudder. There is no overriding M.O. at work here that i can see. I know the beavs lost some good linemen but the momentum was in place for the team to try to be a hamburger soup joe lunchbucket grind it out running first team with a stable of powerful backs. But the powers that be panicked and decided the only way to score enough points is to chuck it. And that course correction will take it's own time. If that's even the plan today. That's not a talent gap that's a coaching identity crisis.

......AND a lack of talent. Like you, I've played, coached, watched (intently) for many, many, many years. The coooogs were faster, quicker, stronger. They tackled better, blocked better, threw better, and PLAYED better. Better players.

......AND a lack of talent. So editing my post too- yeah they raced up and down the field on the beavs just like pssu did. See where i'm going with that? Bad coaching obfuscates talent evaluation.

does anyone doubt this team will finish in the top 10 worst teams in div. 1 football this year? You must've not watched WSU dismantle Nevada. There are worse teams. I suspect there may be more than 9.
