Kind of shows you where the program is at when you can't even make the final 6 for the local star. Final 6 are: USC, UCLA, Michigan, Utah, Nebraska and Oregon.

Shouldn't be a surprise. He's a 5*, isn't he? Why would a 5* want to come to a freak!& dumpster fire of a mess?

Corvallis kid ejects OSU. Not much more can be said. I only take issue with that if he picks Oregon or Utah. Growing up, my dream was to play college basketball. I loved OSU, but had I been good enough to play anywhere, I would’ve gone to Arizona to play for Lute Olsen. Local kid passes up OSU to play for USC/Nebraska/Michigan/UCLA isn’t really a problem for me.

From what I have read and heard it is an SC and Oregon battle.

Corvallis kid ejects OSU. Not much more can be said. Sux that he eliminated us. But he also eliminated Washington, Notre Dame and Alabama. More than 500 kids graduate from CHS and CV every year. Of those who go on to a four-year school, most of them attend college out of town. They want to go someplace new. You would be surprised at how many transfer back, though. I think he's going to USC, which would be hard to turn down.

Unfortunate, but he's hardly the first highly-rated in-state kid to be lured away by the the bigger programs. The collapse of the basketball program can be traced right back to Mighty Mouse heading to Arizona.

An article today in the little "o" suggests CGA is heading for an 0 for 10 success rate in luring the cream of the state of Oregon crop to Corvallis. Don't tell me that isn't significant.

Any one individual kid opting to go elsewhere isn't a big deal. All ten of them is though....especially when every one of the guys that has already committed has chosen to stay in the pacific northwest (four to UO, two to UW). The four uncommitted ones: Chase Cota, Talanoa Hufanga, Eli'jah Winston, Travis Spreen are all seen as UO leans by 24/7 sports.
But this isn't a new phenomenon...using the same 24/7 sports list Nemec did, here's how we've done in the past:
2017: 1-10 (David Morris #3) All ten went to a P5 school, 6 of 10 stayed in the Northwest 2016: 1-10 (Trevon Bradford #9) Eight went P5, 7 of 10 stayed in the Northwest 2015: 2-10 (Blake Brandel #3, Hamilton Hunt #10) Six went P5, 4 of 10 stayed in the Northwest 2014: 2-10 (Ryan Nall #5, Tanner Sanders #7, Christian Martinek #6) seven went P5, seven stayed in northwest (AJ Hotchkins went JC then transferred to Oregon, Martinek obviously never played football) 2013: 0-10 (Though #3 Brayden Kearsley transferred here) - Four went P5, four stayed in northwest 2012: 2-10 (Isaac Seumalo #1, Joel Skotte #5) - Seven went P5, Six stayed in northwest 2011: 1-10 (Elisinoa Aluesi #6) 8 went P5, Nine stayed in northwest 2010: 2-10 (Michael Bibbee #8, Will Storey #9) - Eight went P5, six stayed in northwest 2009: 4-10 (John Braun #6, Michael Beaton #8, Jordan Poyer #9, Jack Lomax #10), Seven went P5, Seven stayed local (we also got Micah Hatfield #11) 2008: 2-10 (Tony Wilson #4, Jordan Bishop #9) Seven went P5, six stayed i northwest
Nemec makes it sound like Andersen whiffing in state is a new thing, but it's not. Over half of the top 5 in every year save 2013 went to a Power 5 school. I mean, I guess if you want to say Andersen is averaging less than one top 10 Oregon commit over his four recruiting cycles (Brandel was already in before the coaching change), so be it.....but good football players in this state have been choosing to go elsewhere for a long long time. Nemec's making a big deal of it now because he senses the tide turning on GA, same way he turned on Helfrich last season.
Analysis: Nemec sucks.

I think Nemec's point was Andersen came in talking about going toe-to-toe with the big programs and winning the "big boy fights" for recruits, keeping then in-state. That hasn't happened. He's not saying it's new, he's saying Andersen's approach hasn't changed anything. 1 thing will; winning.

Correct. 2007 we had 3 (Kevin Frahm, Carl Sommer, Will Darkins) 2006 we had 4 (Mau Nomani, Gabe Miller, Kyle Loomis, Keo Camat) 2005 we had 3 (Bryant Cornell, Michael Marks, Kevin Maher) 2004 we had 2 (Mike Jones, Zach Tarver) 2003 we had 4 (Ryan Gunderson, Roy Schuening, Zach Hagemeister, Andy Darkins) These were the top 4...#5 was Dante Rosario 2002 we had 1 (Joe Newton) Top player in state 2001 there isn't data, but we got the top player in state (Derek Anderson) There's definitely been a drop off since about 2009 when we stopped winning consistently.
