(decades) I won't be glued to my TV watching this debacle of a game! Sad, very sad! Beavs lose by at least 38!

(decades) I won't be glued to my TV watching this debacle of a game! Sad, very sad! Beavs lose by at least 38! Go Beavs! I am not an old timer. I am only 37. But I do remember watching the 1990's beavers. I remember going to games that where we lost to the likes of Montana (or was it Montana St. I still can't remember). What was different, was we expected the ineptitude. We found joy in things like having the occasional stud defender (Reggie Tongue anybody?) that could make a big play. We found other things to hang our hats on, that weren't necessarily wins. Now, it is different. It is different because every single one of us here know we can be better. We should be better. This exact team, with these exact players should be 3-0 right now.

I'm 54 and have a good memory of most of the dark years. And yes, it is different now. Our players are much better now. In 1979, for instance, half of the current roster would be somewhere else because of the higher scholarship limits.
And it's part of the reason why a change has to be made this year and not next. After a one or two win season, we will not be competing against Arizona, Washington State, and Utah for recruits. We will be going against San Jose State, Montana, Idaho, and New Mexico State. The current group of players could win five games next year with quality coaching. If you took the roster of one of those four schools listed later, it is a long and painful re-build job.

That Montana loss lives forever for me. We just finished a fairly promising year with Pettibone so I got my first season tickets for 1996. We got crushed by Div 2a Montana in game 1 and went on to win one game as I recall. I honestly have to say I have the same bad feeling for this 2017 team.

I remember guys like Safety R Tongue and WR Roddy Tompkins and those guys had fight in 'em. I even had a buddy that I graduated with in '92 (from HS) that played for the Beavs and I used to listen to the games on the radio (because back then the Beavs rarely made TV). But I loved watching them on defense. They usually had a chip on their shoulder and it showed. I really miss the edge and guys playing like they wanted to be there, they just lacked in some talent then and were running a terrible offense! Now there's talent and no leadership!!
I have zero confidence in this team today and that is strictly from the lack of leadership. Like I said, it's a bummer! Don't mind losing (don't like it but it happens) but the fight and guys competing has to be there!
Go Beavs!

You're not nearly as sick of us as we are the coaches

I will definitely watch the game, if it is on a channel that I have a subscription to. Yes, I think CGA has done a horrific job with this program and seems to be in the process of ruining it for years to come. But, win or lose, no matter the margin, I love to watch the game, at least for the start and until things get really out of hand. No matter the spread, no matter our chances, I always turn on the beginning of the game in the eternal hope that the Beavs can pull out a victory. I got used to it while going to school there in the late 80s/early 90s and watching or listening to the Beavs for years afterward. Even during the darkest years, there was usually something over the season.
There were some good plays made by the Beavs in the first halves of Colorado St. and Minnesota that point to potential to win a few games this year. Maybe this weekend will be one! If they can just put together a complete game...

If what you have been watching the last 3 games is ok with you, then I don't know what to say! Go Beavs!

I don't know...I think I was drunk that day. Boda bags...now there's a fond memory. Or my old standby: 2 liter bottle of Coke, empty out a pint, replace with 151 rum, and away we go...

We got DESTROYED by Montana. Lost by 21 in the home opener. I vowed that I was done with Beaver football that day (I've probably said that about 10 times now - sometimes out of disgust (Montana/SacState, etc), sometimes out of frustration (09 Civil War) and sometimes just thinking we are truly jinxed - 98 UCLA / 04 LSU. and then I came back to the next game.. and the next game.. and the next game. Clearly I'm either not very smart or I need different hobbies.
