Ready for the first person to come in and note who his other (present) offers were from. There's always some jackhole who revels in that. Edna Karr HS is the defending 2016 Louisiana 4A football champion (as well as having played in the 2015 4A title game). www.maxpreps.com/rankings/football/1/state/louisiana.htmAll that matters is where they sign. Don't care about who's interested, just if they actually sign. Welcome mat is out... Will he come on in?

Some great OSU receivers like Mike Haas and James Rodgers were overlooked recruits, who had very few D1 offers. Here's to another player in the black and orange balling like those two. Congrats Anthony.

Welcome Anthony.
And I agree, some people make way to much about stars and other offers. Illinois, my alma mater and the other team I follow, started two true freshmen at DE this past week. One was a 3 star recruit who now has 8 tackles, 3 sacks, and 3 TFLs in two games. The other wasn't rated and was planning on going to Elon before Lovie called late in the process. He has 6 tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFLs, and 2 QB hurries in two games. Its about identifying talent and coaching that talent up.

Especially with a coach who harps on winning those big boy recruiting battles. Anyhow, with that said - we need speed and he's got a chance for early playing time, looking forward to seeing him here! Glad these HS kids haven't given up like some of us fans have (and I'm guilty there)

I'm nt sure how many this team needs especially when we have no offensive identity. You'd think our recruiting would be OL, DL heavy... so to speak!

I should clarify - I would think a selling point to a recruit is that they have a legit shot to contribute early and to point at guys like Morris and Hodgins and others as proof. Identity? We don't need no stinkin' identity! Pretty sure we're winging it from week to week! Maybe we'll go veer or wing T here in a couple weeks. Linemen? We don't need no stinkin' line... oh wait. actually we do. We need a bunch. We need so many that we all sit here and complain about having too many. Remember when we had "too many" offensive lineman? What I wouldn't give for too many lineman right about now.

I think your clarification needs clarification. We've got two freshmen making significant impacts and two redshirt freshmen (Keobounnam and Whetzel) listed on the two deep.
Freshmen or Redshirt Freshmen on 2 deep at other pac-12 schools (according to Ourlads.com): Arizona: 14 (holy crap) ASU: 2 (3 if you count placekickers) Cal: 8 Colorado: 11 (12 if you count placekickers) Oregon: 7 (8 if you count punters) Stanford: 2 UCLA: 7 USC: 8 (10 if you count placekickers) Utah: 6 (7 if you count placekickers) Washington: 4 Washington State: 7 (8 if you count placekickers)
So....are we really promoting early playing time? I feel like that's a thing all coaches dangle out there, but the bottom line is the best players play, regardless of age or time in the program (at least that's the way it probably should be).

Wouldn't Crawford, Pierce, Shemar Smith, Bradford, Hughes-Murray be considered young guys who saw the field very early? I know Crawford redshirted first.. but still.

Don't get me wrong- totally get what you're saying. But I think the "we need your help now" message probably resonates a little differently for a recruit in the stands at the sh!t show that was OSU vs Minnesota, versus a kid in the stands in Seattle or LA or Stanford...

I was just pointing out this year's team....and I still think the general rule is that if you're good enough, you play. I don't think there's a lot of places that just stash freshmen and redshirts on the bench just because. I mean, what we're really trying to say is "you might not be not good enough to start at USC, but you could sure start here." I'm pretty sure that recruits already know that. It's kind of a given.

Unless, of course, you're the only competent QB we've had here in our tenure. Then, you're 3rd string behind the QB you outplayed by a Grand Canyon sized gulf the prior year, and a JC recruit. But, otherwise, the best players play.
