Between the posts by baseba111 & 2ndGenBeav we've seen a lot of upbeat info about Janessa Thropay....Who knows maybe she will be this year's player who "comes out of nowhere."
Coach R usually dishes out praise to all of his newly signed recruits, but he seemed unusually effusive when talking about Janessa in the above quotes..I hope she delivers as advertised. I still have never learned what kept her out of action last year....
Switching gears: Thanks to sandiegobeaver for the Tune Squad post - -a fun read and some interesting info....

She was wearing a "boot"/soft cast on her leg for part of last season. Not sure what the specific injury was but appeared to be leg related.

All that and apparently a very good singer to boot! :-) Here's hoping Janessa is next in line to make the "Kolbie leap".... Go Beavers! No apparently about it.........I think she sings maybe the best National Anthem I have ever heard.......both at Goss and at Gill.

Not sure what the specific injury was but appeared to be leg related. Janessa Thropay apparently had a stress reaction/stress fracture that bothered her and kept her out of training for a portion of the '16-'17 season. I also remember seeing her in a boot during her recovery. Thropay appeared to be very fit during the team's summer workouts and finished second on the team (as a 6'2" big) during the squad's most recent timed mile with a 6:10 time. That time was apparently a personal best for her and an indication that her conditioning and preseason fitness level are in a very good place as she prepares to contribute to the squad's success during the '17-'18 season. A Tweet accessible below reported her recent one-mile run time.

And I agree with jefframp, her rendition of the National Anthem last year was amazing. I found myself wishing they would allow her to sing it again.

Probably Mik Pivec. She ran 2:14 in the 800 in HS and was an outstanding CC runner as well.
