Who would you select to replace Candersen™?
And the follow up: How many years would you give him?

Shoot man - after the 3rd quarter I was going GM Mode and working up a trade with GA + Clune + 2018 1st round pick for Barnum. They could have just switched sides. Easy peasy...

Who would you select to replace Candersen™? And the follow up: How many years would you give him? Well 2+ years ago... but, my guy is now taken and is a Midwest guy so probably wasn't an option. But, we get to see him in person next Saturday night.

I said before we hired GA, that I liked Tom Herman (he didn't have a great day today either) and I liked Beau Baldwin.
My wife was born in Montana, so we root for the Griz and try to travel there for one game a year. Since EWU is their main rival outside of MSU, we try to catch that game. BB's offense has always been so impressive. His QB's are smart, athletic, and throw the ball all over the field. I'm not an X's and O's expert, but we hired GA I was hoping BB would get a look at being the Offensive Coordinator. Of course, Wilcox was smart and hired him at Cal.
BB also won a National Championship in 2010 (FCS level, but still, great HC experience). Too late now, but we had a chance. Normally I'm wary of the "up and comer" coach, but having seen his EWU teams play firsthand, they were impressive. To be fair, his defenses always sucked, so he would need a great DC to work with.
And since QB's are a hot topic, check out these stats from last years EWU QB, Gage Gubrud:
RUSHING GP Att Gain Loss Net Avg TD Long Avg/G Gubrud, Gage 14 134 814 208 606 4.5 5 30 43.29
PASSING GP Efficiency Comp-Att-Int Pct Yards TD Long Avg/G Gubrud, Gage 14 166.64 386-570-14 67.72 % 5160 48 84 368.57

Look. I'll go another year with CGA. I mean give him 4 is fair, right? Or do you want 5? I don't care. I want to leave no doubt that this guy is not a good coach. Or, I want to eat crow by the Beavs being in a huge bowl game at the end of the 2018 regular season.
After CGA's five years, I want someone that's younger. Someone that can relate to his players. Someone who's got experience as a coordinator (offense or defense) from a POWER 5 conference.
If from a non-Power 5, I want an HC or coordinator who has had success there for a long while. Not just a quickie 2 year rebuild. Someone who has developed his craft/specialty to the point of guru status. But, right now, I got no names. But, it probably wouldn't be hard.....would it?
Off topic: Wasn't Craig Evans recruited by CGA while he was at WI? And obviously he didn't qualify over there? I dunno.

That allows a coach to bring in young players and develop them. This being year 3, I expect to see more players stepping up, understanding the system, and performing at a high level. I don't see that yet. I really want Andersen to succeed here. I want him to be the answer. But I'm getting pretty worried. My preference would be for an ex-NFL coach. A repeat of Erickson. Come in, motivate the men to perform and win some games.

But, we get to see him in person next Saturday night. That would have been fun...I wouldn't even mind seeing Beau Baldwin. Had he come to Corvallis 3 years ago, So would Vernon Adams, which would have been entertaining while a young replacement got a year under his belt in Baldwin's system. The guy has a clear system offensively, and his kids play HARD!
