Not surprised by this result at all. Watching all the games, I thought Florida was the most impressive team in Omaha. Didn't want to post it here at the time, but honestly I don't think the Beavs would have beaten them had we gotten past LSU - their pitching with Faedo et. al was just too good. So looking back on it, maybe it was a blessing in disguise that we lost. (If nothing else, I was able to get out of Nebraska and back to the Bay Area sooner! 😉) Congrats to the Gators on their first title. congrats to Florida for winning? Well now they've won a title in everything. Puke....now that's a funny word.

I don't have anything against Florida. It's not like I'm congratulating Hole or something, lol.

But it's on at my brother-in-law's house. Nice to see a plate ump who seems to know what a strike is! I just saw an LSU base runner do one of the stupidest things ever. Top of 7, 2-1 Florida, none down, runners on the corners. IMO, a bunt was in order there to insure no DP, score the guy from 3rd, and tie the game with just 1 down and a runner on 2nd. The problem with that was that LSU's all or nothing power hitter (5 hits in the CWS, 3 HRs, one from each side of the plate in our elimination game) was up. On cue, leadfoot hits into a double play, but at least the tying run scores. But wait, the runner from first slides directly into the second baseman, cleats up, nowhere near the bag. Double play completed, runner her scored sent back to third, still 2-1, with 2 down. Next batter flies out to CF. Talk about bonehead. This may bite them and end the WS, Florida having won last night 4-3. And the LSU fans pelted the field with garbage even though the reply showed it was the right call. The kid slide away from the bag and stuck his cleats into the second baseman's shin as he was trying to complete the throw to first. From that point on I was a huge Florida fan.

Hitting WTJr like bp now. Never understood why anyone would want a closer named, "Wild Thing". They, Wild Things, seem to falter when it matters most (post season). Mitch Williams in Game 6 of 1993 World Series. Jeremy Sherffy (sp) against Iowa in 2015 Regionals. Wild Thing Williams did have enough to pitch his West Linn HS team past Newberg and Brian Casey, Pat's brother. That was the 2nd finals loss in a row for the Berg.
