If you listen to Casey's post-game comments after the Vandy sweep, his answer to the very last question about Heimlich was very, very odd.
Some comments on the angrybeav column were expressing fears that this whole mess could cause Casey to go 'Don James' on OSU, and now I'm really getting depressed.
What if Canzano's never-ending witch hunt causes Ed Ray to force Luke to stay home? And what if our dream season ends in an unceremonious thud? I really wonder what might go through Casey's mind during the off-season. He has never had much support from his school and athletic department, but he has persevered through it all and just kept building this thing himself, brick by brick.
At what point does he feel that he's hit the last straw?
I sure hope I'm worrying over nothing...

I had no idea how to interpret it. But, it didn't sound positive. If he and Ray are butting heads on this it could be ugly. |

Casey isn't going anywhere. Heimlich isn't pitching IMO. I support whatever decision is made.

And he does not have the time to waste engaging in a political battle with a bunch of administrators - a battle I'm sure he could win in the offseason. I don't see him sparing a minute of game preparation time to stave off the jackals.

I agree he won't pitch (and shouldn't), but I have to think that Casey feels very strongly that Luke deserves to be with his team in Omaha and share in the experience that he helped to create, even if it isn't between the lines. Given Casey's full-throated support of Luke after game 1, I'm not looking forward to the consequences if Ray decides to play hardball due to public pressure...

I think the statement was as a simple as the world is against Luke right now, Casey and his team supports him. I think it DOES indicate he and the administration are at odds about Luke. I think it does indicate Casey is mad about OSU tossing Luke under the bus a bit for the sake of PR. But I am not sure we can extrapolate that means Casey is taking his ball and going home... And I even support and applaud that. The support Luke part. It means to me that they are judging Luke only one what they have seen from him with their own eyes. Not a past they do not know much about. That is a really hard thing to do. |

They have made the decision that is the way they want to handle it at this time. • Has Heimlich committed any offenses or had any behavioral problems during his time at Oregon State? According to Casey, no. Heimlich came to OSU after winning Gatorade Player of the Year honor as a Puyallup High junior in 2014. The award recognizes "not only athletic excellence but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character, on and off the field." In high school, Heimlich maintained a 3.76 GPA, was a member of the debate team and volunteered locally on behalf of the YMCA as well as multiple community service initiatives in association with his church youth group. After his sex abuse conviction, Heimlich entered a diversion program, received two years of probation and successfully completed two years of sex offender treatment. "Luke has done everything the courts have asked of him," Casey says. "Now he is again going through the consequences of what happened six years ago. Again... never convicted. The word is used several times by Eggers but never by any of the experts. As far as I understand adjudication is not a conviction.
And... picked up because Corvallis police did not know the law. Surprise.

Did Pat Casey know about it when he recruited him? It's a simple question but it's of critical importance to understand the situation. Either no one asks or no one answers.

On 620 AM this morning Kerry Eggers stated that Casey did not know until the Corvallis PD cited Luke earlier this spring for failing to register after he turned 21 (erroneously cited since he was not an Oregon resident). |

Amazing that all.of this comes because the BENTON COUNTY POLICE did not know the rules... Not as has erroneous been reported that Luke didn't know the rules...
And how amazingly frustrating must it be for Luke and family that he was TWO MONTHS from being able to get off the sex offender list when it all came out...
