I gotta think runs will be at a premium tonight. We'll need to keep them off the board. Can't afford badly misplayed balls that lead to 3 runs. Do you play for defense? Or do you chalk last might up to an anomaly, and play for offense again?

PJ or Kwan, Carey in Center

I'd favor Kwan in left....Cary in CF...and saving Preston Jones for scoring the WINNING run, as a pinch runner. Go Beavs!

Donahue has made some great plays out there; that was the first really bad fielding decision that I have seen, and he also got two hits and a walk to help make up for it. I would rather take a hitter getting hot and roll the dice on that kind of thing happening again. Unless Casey sees something in the matchups tonight that is different, Donahue is my bet for the start.

Donahue was a big difference in the game at the plate last night - reached base 3 times in 4 plate appearances and his 1 out was a line drive that tailed back to the outfielder. With his swings and plate discipline going good, Coach left him in until the 9th, and I think he does the same today.
The misplay in LF really did hurt, and it looked obvious from my vantage point that it would be a deep fly ball that was trouble with Christian starting to run in. It might have just been one of those plays that off the bat was hit right at him and hard to judge. It was so high I can see how he would think it was a potential no-man's land blooper, and it's hard to blame him for being aggressive or know if anyone else in that spot would have seen it differently.

It didn't look hard hit off the bat, it just carried. Still, you would hope that your LF gets a better read on that. I'd start whoever is most comfortable hitting against 90+ heat.

Here's the lineup we started when we played AT UCLA against Griffin Canning and won (even though he had 10 K in 7 IP, scored 2 off him with 6 hits and won 4-2), who at this point in his career is a better pitcher than Wright, I'm happy with it...although would likely just sub in Anderson off the bat - which brings it back to what most people are saying.
Madrigal SS Kwan RF/LF KJ 1B Larnach DH Gretler 3B Donahue LF (subbed by Anderson after 2 AB) Griener 3B Rutschman C Cary CF

Adley was about a 200 hitter and Kwan was in the midst of his amazing transformation. Larnach was at like 10 rbi as well and fighting for the DH job. Basically we are a much better lineup top to bottom, and are now hitting balls out of the yard at a 1+ per game rate to boot. Hitting to match the pitching, and most of the time defense to beat the band. We are now #2 in the nation in runs for vs runs against. Not too shabby.

But, you have to admit that is a really misleading stat (like most) when you consider our pitching staff.

Ah, you brought your rag! Regardless, I was spot-on about Donahue needing to start Now that we have that huge outfield to cover in Omaha, I can see Casey putting Kwan in left and Cary in center. OF defense pretty important in that cavernous place.
