Being matched up in the regional opposite Vanderbilt makes me uncomfortable Who is more uncomfortable? You, or vanderbilt having to come to Corvallis? They will get their doors blown off.

As long as we make it out of the regional I'll be very confident whether we play Vanderbilt at all. It has nothing to do with baseball matchups, just the interesting parallel between the two programs from 2007 and 2014. It ultimately means nothing

Being matched up in the regional opposite Vanderbilt makes me uncomfortable My feelings as well. I would rather play Clemson. I get it, got to get out of the first weekend before the Super matters.

Lest we forget, we took out Nebraska twice this early season in Suprise. Nebraska will not be an easy out, even in Corvallis. This could get dicey but Beavs will prevail.

Vanderbilt is not nearly the team they have been in recent years. also remember they have mostly underperformed in the post season.

Who cares who is in the other bracket, bring them to our place, the Beavs can take on anyone at Goss. No one else is from the west coast in either bracket, lots of travel for anyone not named Oregon State. I love this setup, thank you selection committee. Especially sending BYU to the farm.

Coach Casey appears to have a decision to make about his starting pitching rotation for the Regional, and I think his pitching rotation this weekend was meant to keep his options open. Bottom line is that Holy Cross has only 2 regulars with more than 100 ABs that bat left and 7 that bat right, with the next-highest lefty batter having 43 ABs hitting .163. Holy Cross stats
Both Nebraska and Yale have many more options from the left side. Yale has 6 players with 100 ABs from the right, but 3 with 100 bat left. The next 2 highest ABs are one from each side. Yale stats
Most dramatic is Nebraska, which is very evenly balanced with their 9 over 100 ABs - 4 left, 4 right and 1 switch. (Their top BAs in order go R,S,L,R,L,R,L,R,L.) A look back at February's games vs. the Huskers is also telling. OSU's starters were Heimlich and Tweedt, with Fehmel taking the loss to Ohio State between the 2. Nebraska started 3 right-side hitters vs. Luke that ended up with fewer than 100 ABs, and sat 2 of their current left-side hitters. They were replaced vs. Tweedt by a lefty and 2 switch-hitters. Of course this was early in the season, so Nebraska was probably tinkering with its lineup. The left-side hitter that didn't start either game was a Frosh that finished with 120 ABs and got a hit late in the first game. Nebraska statsMy gut is telling me Coach goes with Jake Thompson on Friday vs. Holy Cross (on full rest after he pitched Friday vs. ACU), then Luke in Game 2 Saturday knowing the opponent will have more left-side batters. Go with your best Games 1 & 2, then you have Raz, Britton, Fehmel, Tweedt et al to advance. Shouldn't affect the Supers rotation at all, since Jake and Luke would both start and the game 1-2 order doesn't really matter. Of course there are the intangibles of psyche, routines, rest, and others for the starters, so I'm sure Coach will make the best choice considering everything. But it definitely looks like he has a real choice.
