This is absolutely correct. Very hard to get a read on the ball.

Totally agree. My son's game last Monday, it was ridiculous. 10 runned the other team, but felt bad for our hitters. Ball behind the batter, ball over the catcher, ball 2 feet in front of the plate, then a meat pitch down the middle. Incredibly difficult to get a read when the pitchers are erratic.

Dont Really need to swing much when the other team has given up 9 BB I wonder if it's actually a little more challenging or if anything quite an adjustment - at that level when the pitcher is so erratic and misses the glove by 2 feet..then a strike.. then one in the dirt.. then a strike.. then 4 feet outside. Not making excuses, should obviously still hit the strikes, but man, that first kid was all over the place. He owes his catcher a 6 pack and an ice pack. It's really hard to hit a guy that wild - if you have no idea where the pitch is going to be, it it is like guessing at a knuckleballer who has no idea where the ball is going either. |

At the risk of all the negative responses... there is a reason Jake is not higher on the draft boards with this year's stats and his physical makeup... this year is an anomaly. Scouts I've known for years do not trust his mental make up. This game is the anomaly for this year... not for his career. But, really this isn't that bad... just in comparison to. All signs point to marked improvement, so hopefully just a glitch. In any case despite all the excuses for last night's hitting performance, our post season is dependent on the offense. If we can't overcome a poor start vs this team it does not bode well going forward. |
