Collegiate Baseball has released its rankings since 1959.
No team has ever been ranked first in its poll for ten consecutive weeks.
Until now.
Are they the best baseball team in the past 58 years??? Time will tell, but they are truly one of the best ever. I hope everyone is enjoying the ride this year, because it is not over. It will end on a hot day late June, at a ballpark in Omaha that has the fences too damned far back. A bunch of guys in orange and black will dog pile near the pitchers mound, and a guy named Casey will get Gatorade dumped on him.

Agree with everything you say except - with a 1.94 ERA, I am happy to see fences way back this year!

Once in a while in every sport at every level you get a team like this. Not just good, certifiably great.

We've had an incredible season. But it all starts anew in the postseason. And, as fun as this is, what is the added pressure put on a team not to fail in the postseason when they are #1 for so long?

A few observations:
We have the best record in PROGRAM HISTORY We have one of the best records in THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT
Sorry, if those facts don't make you think this team is special - you're beyond hope.
That Mariners team that won 116 games in the regular season was also special. They just didn't happen to win the championship.
20 years from now, people will still be talking about this team whether they win it all or not.
Enjoy witnessing this special team instead of trying to minimize their accomplishments.

There is a BIG difference between special in the regular season and special and winning it all. Take the 07 team as an example..barely made it to post season then ROLLED ..that WAS SPECIAL Same thing can happen to us. Top team in regular season..hit a rising team on a roll and we can be done. It's only SPECIAL and remembered two or 22 years later if you WIN IT! Boo! Hiss! This team is effing great. The way it wins is like a bulldozer. It doesnt matter what the score is at any particular time in the game. The score will be what it needs to be for the beavs to win. If you don't recognize that about this team then i fear for your ability to live in the moment or enjoy sports at all.

Everyone remembers the Patriots team that went 16-0 as special. Everyone remembers the Mariners team that won 116 games as special. 300+ teams will NOT win the NCAA championship each year, but failing to win the championship does not disqualify you from being a special team.

OK... maybe people have differing definitions, but it is not LOGIC as it is you that brought up comparisons never mentioned and completely unrelated...I suppose you must believe Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Dan Marino because he has a ring? Does better equal special? Dilfer is special he is a SB winning QB, not many can say that. Everyone remembers the Patriots team that went 16-0 as special. They were not as "special" as any team that won the title... ask TB I'll bet he'd concur as he did not have the same post game comments after losing as he did winning!Everyone remembers the Mariners team that won 116 games as special. Never won anything but a special 116 regular season games... winning a WS would be more special.300+ teams will NOT win the NCAA championship each year, but failing to win the championship does not disqualify you from being a special team. Just less special than champions! There is no universal definition we all have to accept here... but, I can guarantee you every player and all coaches would trade a 50 win regular season for the NCAA title. It's what you play for... to GET to the postseason... to WIN the title. All the rest is sugar coating to suave the "wounds" of not winning the title.

Baseba!!!!. The discussion seemed to be whether a great team that doesn't win a championship can be special. That doesn't mean it is better than the '06-'07 teams, but it is still special.

My point is... depends on who you are and what YOUR definition is. I never made the "better" comparisons, I commented on them being made.
