Is it too early to get just a little bit excited about Destiny Slocum's eventual landing spot? A credible OSU source reports that Destiny is in Corvallis today checking out the Beavers basketball program.
Attached are some clips below that give you a glimpse of her basketball talents. The third clip below is from her high school career.

Best destination ? Seems that it would be between UW and OSU. Playing time at uo will be very limited. OSU needs a penetrating point guard that can distribute the ball and also bang home the three ball. Sort of a Jamie replacement which we missed last year, allowing everyone to focus on Syd. JMO.

You are correct, she is a great one. I did notice last year that unless it was Syd or Mikayla bringing the ball up the floor, things got a little sketchy. This led to a lot of turnovers, especially on teams that pressured. There were also games where Mikayla was covered like a blanket. If we had another ball handler, with speed, on the floor, I think we could cut down on turnovers and more effectively run the floor. Too many times, we were pushed beyond the arc to shoot a three and if those are highly contested and not dropping, we got into some deep holes. Shooting three's and lobbing into the post are relatively easy to establish a defense against.i would like to see us step up against the teams that apply a lot of defensive pressure.

Another point guard type, especially one with supreme quickness, is always a plus. Between Pivec and Katie Mac, they should be in pretty good shape in the 'bringing-the-ball-up' department. It would be logical for both players to grow significantly between last season and next. Pivec especially has that 'it' factor. And Katie Mac, after playing on squads with obvious leaders like Syd and Jamie, might well surprise us with how much she 'steps up'. It should be a fun team to watch!

I'm pretty sure that she's been granted a release. These days it's unusual for schools to not grant a release if the player is leaving for reasonable non-sports reasons. I imagine if Destiny was heading to Ohio State things might be different.

I like Katie Mac and think she is very talented. However, I can remember a game last year when she was bringing the ball up and twice got it stripped away from her and led to an easy layup. So, as much as I like her I'm not in love with her at the PG position. And, for whatever reason, she didn't wow too much last seasonI. The talent is there, for sure, but it just feels like she can't quite harness it yet. I would be thrilled to have Destiny on our team and think she would contribute greatly.

She has well into September to pick a school (technically September of 2018 I think). An announcement may not be imminent, then again, she could decide tonight.
