As mentioned in the other thread, rumors that he's close to committing. 6'9" 205 out of Putnam Science Academy in CT. Holds 15 offers - OSU, Iowa State, Cincy, Temple, Georgia, Pitt, New Mexico among others.. Looks like a 3 star among most of the sites. 247sports.com/Player/Alexis-Yetna-46037686Here's a more detailed write-up on a Georgia fan site: georgiabasketballblog.com/alexis-yetna-class-2017-prospect/Strengths Mid-range shooting capability: Catch and shoot in the mid-range. Shot Blocking Ability Rebounding: Gets himself into good rebounding position. Low Post Ball Handling Perimeter Shooting for Position Perimeter Defense: Very disruptive as a defender. Screening: His teammates need to stop rejecting his ball screens as they are actually quite effective. Weaknesses Ball Handling: Watch him take off on a fast break or drive the lane. Very high and uncomfortable dribble, it is a dribble that makes one hold their breath. He’s much slower and has awkward leg movement when dribbling the ball forward. Strength: He gets pushed over way too much in the low block and he struggles to hold onto his rebounds. Lack of post moves and positioning with the back to the basket. Speed: He looks like he’s doing the “Baywatch run” out there.

Doe not sound like someone who will change the trajectory of this team. Painful description.

He's raw and skinny, so I'm not sure how much he'll help next year. But he does appear to have some skills and is a high energy kind of guy. I like that he is lefthanded too. He's not a program-changer, but could be another piece of the puzzle down the line. Not sure how to post links on here, so if it doesn't come through there is a tape of him on the New Mexico's website (thelobolair.com) thelobolair.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62532

Doe not sound like someone who will change the trajectory of this team. Painful description. Eh.. about what I'd expect for a 3 star with offers from OSU, Iowa State and Georgia. Not exactly going toe to toe with Duke and Kentucky here. By comparison, I believe Reichle had offers from us, Montana, Irvine and multiple Ivy schools (another academic all Pac-12er in the works!). So glass half full says - 15 or 16 other sets of D1 coaching eyes think he can contribute. Also - from the list of strengths: Gets in good rebounding position, shot blocker and disruptive defender are all music to my ears. In the meantime, maybe he can work on dribbling the basketball. I'd rather not have to hold my breath.

I'd be happy to take a big who may develop into a difference maker in a few years. There are very few "Kevin Love"s around and fewer who want to go to Corvallis. Drew Eubanks was/is an enormous coup.

Maybe he is another Cam Oliver....Anyone seen his stats at Nevada? I had no idea what we were going to miss out on. He is going to be a lottery pick now

I like that he can block shots and actually guard the perimeter. We sure didn't stop the three point shot very well this year

From www.aminoapps.com/page/hoops/1931520/the-class-of-2017-recruiting-predictions-update-3Alexis Yetna: Oregon State . . . This recruitment is between Oregon State and Iowa State, and currently Oregon State is winning the favor of the French Yetna. Another update may be needed before his commitment. Some video: Seems like a good blend of quicks and strength. He recently took a trip to St. Johns, which is also after one of his teammates. St. Johns is in some turmoil - they had three players transfer out this year and a fourth return to Germany. I don't know how seriously to take them.

I think it's Insane that anyone would be anything but thrilled to grab a player like Yenta this late in the the game.
Last year we went 5-27 and I understand everyone can go on with the reasons why next year will be so much different and i hope it will be but would you bet the next 4 to 5 years of your life on it and possibly your future? I sure as hell wouldn't. I think and hope we will be back on track next year but their are alot of big ? Marks with that.
We have a guy with 15+ scholarship offers including New Mexico who finished 200 rpi spots ahead of us at 87 compared to our 287. I don't care if the pac 12 is the bigger conference when you look at the bigger picture the mountain west had 5 teams finish in the top 90 rpi spots so your still playing some quality basketball.
with all these things weighing against osu we are still his front runner. that's the kinda guy I would bet on and want in my program. Someone who clearly is buying into the coaches message aND wants to be here because we really dont look that appealing on paper.
All year we all moaned about our team being: 1. Unathletic 2. Lack of effort/energy(not always but it was a issue at times) 3. Protecting the rim 4. OVERALL DEPTH (especially down low) 5. And last but not least the complaint i think i heard most......poor rebounding
this dude is a consensus 3* recruit and hypothetically improves 5 of our biggest weaknesses. We have big G as our our space taking big unathletic center. We don't need big game jr. We needed a defense first PF who is athletic enough to play with top talent and has a great Motor plus he's got some touch on his shot. And his weaknesses have to do with cordination which often improves from HS to college
Wether we have been good or bad in the past we have never been the program getting 5* guys who step in and dominate from day 1. Jaqori and stevie were big time 4* recruits aND were good contributors as freshman but they most definitely were not program changing players in year 1. We're the program who gets 3* guys with upside with some 4* mixed in.
If you look as the link beaverinohio posted of new Mexico's board talking about yenta compared to our boards conversation about Yenta you would think we were talking about completely different players. Glass half full? Now if anyone on here thinks recruits/their inner circle don't look at these boards or Google their nAme your crazy. Yes this is a site for fans to bs and say what we really feel but when discussing potential recruits my philosophy is you keep it positive because you never know who could be looking(unless it's about attitude or effort ) and the last thing you want to do is offend a potential beaver.
Im going to trust Tinkles talent evaluation. He has 2 huge misses and those 2 were both JC guys. I have not had a issue with any of the HS guys he's brought in. We have to remember getting the talent here isnt the issue. it's been keeping the talent here and healthy . My concern is stability within his program. Pj and Dew both had grade issues. If they have concerns about someones grades then as a program you have study tables more often so you control the effort they put in. If they are not going to class start making the kid have his teachers signing a attendance sheet for them daily with some serious suicides/gassers if they no show ( the movie coach carater is a perfect example of the study tables you can have for the team without singleing anyone out)
Sorry for being so long winded and honestly this thread was not that negative but compared to how positive NM board was it just really stock oUT to me.

I don't see the posters here being very negative, just realistic.
The most negative comments were copy/pasted from some blogger in Georgia.

I agree with all you said Beaver12345. From what I can see, Yetna looks like a nice piece who will being energy, defense and rebounding. Is he a difference maker next year? No. But he will help off the bench and can develop into a strong contributor down the line.

If one can say that there is such thing as a solid-looking 6'9", 205 lb. guy, Yetna is the one. He looks bigger than 205 to me.
