Didn’t appear to me that they were syncing well with each other. Could be a long season!

Anybody know why Mackenzie Shivers was not on the court?

I really wanted to go tonight but got held up with some phone/internet technical issues in Portland I had to resolve (for hours - I know you've probably been there too). Thanks for the much appreciated updates. Love the post game interviews and the happiness of the players that was clearly evident. Excellent crowd for an exhibition game. I watch (in person) at least a couple of A10 games each year - most of those teams would love to have those numbers for an actual in-conference game. I honestly believe this team will have a solid year. Plus, not in sync? What did you expect from a number of players who have never been together in an actual game?
Looking forward to the season! Go Beavs!

My take on a meaningless game-
AJ- Good D, good passing and good offense. Wasn't afraid to direct the team. Made a couple of passes inside to the bigs for scores. Not and incredible game but very solid.
Vecina- The backup PG. Got pressured a couple of times and had a hard time dealing with it. Otherwise ok, but nothing great.
Shuler- Also got pressured but had no problems with it. Did well on defense and moving the ball. I don't recall her even attempting a pass inside to the bigs but otherwise solid passing as the PG. Made a 3 pt shot.
Ally- Solid game. Made a three that was negated by a penalty. Think she might be a good addition to the team
Navarro- This gal is a fierce competitor. Didn't play a lot so I can't say much, but if she plays well enough that she does get some minutes I think we will be very happy with her.
Yepes- Not sure that she played.
Mehyar- Didn't play.
Shivers- Don't remember her playing.
Sela- Started, which is good. Got gassed without playing huge minutes, which is bad. On defense she got scored on a couple of times, but never because she got beat. They just made hard shots over her. I see the possibility of her having a very good year if she can work her way into better shape.
Rees- At this level she has no real weakness, although also no great strength other than her great mobility for her height.
Catarina- Some real ups and downs with this gal. She and AJ are the only ones who can drive on this team. However, she isn't a great one for detecting when to drive and when not to drive. She made a couple of really good passes. She, Rees, and Heidi are the only natural rebounders on the team.
Tiara- Nothing to say
In general they need to do a better job of rebounding to have a good season.
The new players seem to have bought into Ruecks concept of positional defense, but there were lapses in coverage that usually resulted in Westmont scoring.
None of the new players stepped forward offensively.
There's the possibility of having a decent season, but they need to improve for that to happen.

My take on a meaningless game......................................................... There's the possibility of having a decent season, but they need to improve for that to happen. Exactly right beaveragain---"a meaningless game" but thanks for the player notes! If you guys recall our elite 8 team from last year LOST their pre-season scrimmage against Nevada!...and were only up 3 at the half in the exhibition game against Western Wash. although they did start to find their mojo in the 2nd half and rolled to an 37 pt win. One thing we know is that SR coached teams improve greatly from early season struggles usually by picking up the intensity on defense which then leads to better offense---Look for that to happen again this year.

It sounds like we looked like a team that lost the majority of its starpower and didn’t bring in a ton of talent to replace it, which probably isn’t a major surprise. Not a ton of firepower, but there’s still a ton of room to grow and Rees and Marotte should be above average WCC players. Rueck coached teams are often better at the end of the year (think last year and Aleah’s senior season).
I trust Scott, and think he’s a great coach, but it’s going to be a struggle to bring in talent, especially if he keeps missing on all his targets (like 2025) and has to be the last minute international additions.

Cut Scott some slack. He is not playing in the same arena as the old pac. Don't expect it to be the same as it was but regardless Scott will do the best he can with what he has to work with now.

Attended last night's game. Fun to be back at Gill. A.J, Kelsey, Kennedie, and Sela, played really good basketball and provided solid leadership for all the new players. Tiara, and Catarina played great and contributed lots of good basketball on both ends, very impressed with both. Fun to see Susanna on the court for the first time ever. Lucia is going to surprise us all. Cloe, and Ally both contributed positively, especially for being freshmen.
