Just some nuggets I saw fly by today... USU apparently has a "source" that has been right about several things before, including USU joining the Pac-12, and well before events happen. Now we all know how anonymous sources work... He says Memphis is a definitive yes and we'll bring along either Tulane, UTSA, or both. (BTW, just saw UTSA's basketball facility. Oh sorry, yes, I was referring to money, not number of teams. If this were somehow true, wouldn't it make sense to grab a basketball school back East to anchor the Eastern pod? |

Convocation center? What's wrong with it? It seats less than half of ours, it looks like a high school gym, and it's named Convocation Center. Really? That's the best you could do? Not The NuclearBeaver Memorial Coliseum or something? I don't think that matters that much in basketball. Gonzaga is going to be the hardest road trip in conference if these rumors are true. Convocation is actually really nice despite the size, I've been to it for a concert and it was significantly better than Gill from a design stand point. Way less degree but kinda like Reser is small but really nice. I'd be more worried about Tulane who's arena is the same size but more of a dump from what I've read. Imo Basketball just needs a full engaged stadium, it's wild no matter the size. Rumored Conference members arenas by Capacity. Memphis isn't really a surprise. Always thought it was obvious they would sweeten the offer and circle back to the Tigers, despite the AD's douchebaggery.

Those folks on the east coast are paying attention to our eyeballs on tv's Seems like our numbers are significantly higher than they thought. They are very stable week to week which implies our viewership wasn't all about our opponents. |

After seeing this all play out and reading comments on other boards, I actually wish we could dump Memphis and go somewhere else. The current schools in the Pac-12 all took a risk. They all jumped on a ship together to find a new world. Memphis wanted them to bring the ship to them, pay for packing up and boarding the ship, guarantee where the new world was and what it looked like and if they didn't like it, transport them for free to a different world. They just don't seem invested at all in the idea...barely invested in themselves. And then the AD tries to throw the Pac-12 under the bus with statements that are very obviously just meant to mislead. It was really disappointing all the way around. |
