I wonder how much weight will be given to the fact we signed off on it? If it's considered unenforceable in contract law, it doesn't matter that we signed it. We are also arguing that we signed it under duress and acknowledged that that section was unenforceable. Or we could claim we were blind drunk and had a concussion while signing. Works every time!

We haven't spent anything yet. They've gone to bowl games 6 of the last 7 years, gone to the dance the last 2 years and 4 of the last 6. (This is going to be a sneaky good basketball conf) USU leaving last night is the key to MWC potentially folding and saving us millions. That is the only part that makes sense to me, if this leads to nullifying the exit fees I can get on board. Otherwise, we have spent a bunch of money to essentially join the Mountain West, and simultaneously fulfill the hopes of all of our detractors. Yet you're 1 for 3 in knowing how to quote in this thread and then attempt the lame arse excuse it makes the thread shorter?! LOL FYI... lots of folks correct others on there bub!
It's not quoting correctly because I tried to delete my original quoted post. I've been able to do that from my laptop before without an issue. I tried to do the same from my phone, but now I know that it doesn't work from my phone. Not sure why you have such a hang up about it. Seems like a trivial thing to me. Also, what are you correcting anyone about? The fact that I screwed up the quote feature? Who exactly is the lame arse here?
Lol... I suppose your own quote... "seem to always be the one on here trying to police others" doesn't imply correcting? OK Big deal? Nope. Toying? Yep.

Really can't stand the BS narrative about us being the "bottom of the previous Pac12". Yeah, that would have been the Arizona schools, or the Bay Area schools depending on what sport, and when we're talking about there Ross. Bottom line, OSU and WSU got left behind because of geography and market size, but were suddenly "the bottom of the conference". All of the hype and BS is killing me. I hate that a bunch of fan boy nonsense is now just stated as fact, as media moguls enable this crap while they simultaneously drive the bus off a cliff. Not a fan of raiding the MWC for a bunch of reasons, and it merely fuels the collective hit job being done on us by the media that seems hell bent on making sure that we are relegated to "other" status. I was reluctantly OK with the first 4 MWC additions. Adding Utah State feels like surrender. What was your alternative? Join the Big 12? Personally, I was hoping an ACC break up would dramatically change our prospects. I understand we can't wait forever and need to make moves sooner than later, but I was liking that our options were still open. I was holding out hope that Cal would grudgingly return if the ACC dissolves. Who knows what happens there, but with each MW program we add another door is closed. Hopefully we aren't going to miss out on a better option because we jumped too soon.

As the SLC metro area grows with an influx of out-of-staters, the LDS influence lessens.

We sue ESPN, the Big10, the Big12, UO, UW, Texas, USC, Fox, pretty much anyone we can find. And if we lose in an individual case we sue again. We utilize the entire pot of gold to fund lawyers to litigate our way in. Billable hours has yet to be beat!

"on the flip side of the coin" For you lawyers out there, is this a good turn of phrase?

SLC is not very Mormon. Park City is not very Mormon. The areas around the 11 reservations is also not very Mormon.
Mormonism would be an argument to keep BYU out of the Pac-12, not Utah State. (And it would not be a compelling argument.)

"on the flip side of the coin" For you lawyers out there, is this a good turn of phrase? It is not a terrible one. It is generally good to try and make your filings at least somewhat interesting to read.

Hopefully we aren't going to miss out on a better option because we jumped too soon. The ACC is in talks to formulate a different format for media rights fees distribution and seems intent on keeping Clemson and FSU. Keeping the conference together is their only path forward unless they want to be steamrolled by the SEC and the Big Ten, like the Big 12 has. I also think FSU and Clemson discovered they were not the hot properties they thought they were and got a tepid response from behind-the scenes overtures to the Big Ten and SEC. Our administrators saw the handwriting on the wall, that the ACC was not going to break up. They knew they had to get rolling on building our league instead of waiting for the ACC to fall apart, which probably won't happen in the foreseeable future. And hence the five-year GOR we are asking the newcomers to sign, with (apparently) no departure penalties after the contract expires.
