Not exactly. That's an estimate of what Fox would have paid us, based on what other outlets are paying other conferences on a per-viewer basis.
I still don’t believe that is correct either, and Atown said: a game that earned us at least $10M. I have heard that Oregon State (or maybe the Pac-12) received a premium for the game. The other games were basically all $2 million or just South of there. And then there was a bidding war between the CW and Fox for the Civil War. The Beavs cannot afford to not keep playing the Ducks.

We better stop playing a game that earned us at least $10M. We got the media from this game. It was our home game. One game earned us more than we make in a full year selling tickets for all sports at OSU. Pretty hyped game. First non conf CW. I wonder if, as time goes on, and the talent gap continues to increase, will the game still be hyped? Will we fill Reser? Will anyone other than duck fans even care? In the past it always meant something......it quickly becomes a non conf body bag game. Will casual college fans care? I doubt it. I spose if we get the home game, and the spoils, it'll still make sense, monetarily......at what point will they make us only go to autzen? Maybe they won't because it's 40 minutes up the road for them? So they can jump on the bus, smoke us by 40, and it saves them travel expenses? They keep us on the hook with $$$..... it's like an abused wife staying with her abuser for financial reasons. No, it's nothing like that. Not even remotely. Terrible analogy. It's like work. You get paid to go out and do something that you do not really want to do for a couple of hours and then you cash the paycheck. And it is overtime work, because Oregon State was probably making at least a time-and-a-half.

It's sad how many threads we have about money and only one about our roster and it's just injuries.

I still don’t believe that is correct either, and Atown said: a game that earned us at least $10M. Obviously I am not staring at a contract. Based on multiple articles, and the above linked article, the napkin math of what media companies are paying conferences for the right to broadcast games put the guesstimate valuation of CW in that zipcode of $3.76 a view. there is probably a healthy range there. That 3.76 was derived from purchasing less than ideal games too. Is it true hard fact? of course not. Is that really how media is negotiated? no. it is more about a take of the advertisement sales and whatnot. to that end, Fox sells no less than 72, 30 second spots at $106,000 a pop (last year's Big 10 game rate) and there are regional splits to that. that doesn't count in game runners, pop outs, of which there are dozens and announcer call outs. Is the Oregon game where we are making the absolute lions share of our money? of course. Nobody really knows the details but about 6 months about Canzano was floating about $15M to OSU in total Media (due to 7 games). It isn't hard to imagine the bulk coming from Oregon. and realistically games like Idaho St. paying more like $500,000 and most of the MWC match ups being $750,000 type games. Purdue will probably a couple million game too. We talk about averages per game, this is not a uniform distribution. we get basically all our money in just a couple games. Oregon game is one of those games. Is $10M probably hyperbole? Yeah, I'll own that... but I am not sure by how much...

I dream of a world where hole and us are playing for completely different trophies. A world where we don't need the media money from playing them......or maybe just where it's not an option. Maybe some day it will be completely separate. And we can have a regional conference and not worry so goddamn much about tv markets! If you are not worried about TV markets, you are not on TV. And then, you are basically playing with cardboard pads and helmets that are painted on, kicking a ball that was at one point really a pig. Money keeps the lights on and keeps all of the other sports going. And there just is no real money without TV, unless the boosters just start dumping millions more into the program every single year. I get the game we gotta play, I just hate it. It's why I'm getting back into the NFL more. The hard salary cap, and subsequent parody is attractive to me. It's a level playing field. That's how sport should be. This wild West of NIL/transfer portal, and letting media companies essentially decide who's in, and who's out, is bulls%#t! It's a turn off to me. I'm honestly tired of discussing this whole thing. I would just like to see schools grouped together based on the amount of money/resources they have. No more body bag games.

This last body bag game was at home. I have mixed feelings on that, but it beat the heck out of bringing in Sac State financially. The other thing is, "Fresneck" made their name 20+ some years ago by playing "anyone, anywhere". Hated their coach and their reputation, but they became a tough team by playing a tough OOC schedule, and they're probably not the only ones who raised their status by playing tough games and rising to the challenge, BSU? I'm thinking the new Pac 12 should consider having their teams schedule P4 teams game 1 each year, even if on the road. Give their players a target all summer.

But don’t give Boise St that credit! They would play a top team, but they played nothing but inferior opponents around that, besides Fresno St. Spent most the off season prepping for that one big game.

If our last game had been game one this season I get the feeling it would have been much closer, maybe a win. That first game of the season, and the last game, come with quite a bit of emotion. Seems to me FSU and BSU, being in the same league, played fairly similar schedules at least 8-9 games a season. Just sayin', I think the new conference teams should all schedule "tough" games game one each season... give them something to prep for.

They are a parody of an NFL team....other than Hekker of course.

Carolina is a few pieces from being competitive. The salary cap, and restricted free agency keeps the playing field even.......and then there's college football where it's the wild West, complete with body bags. As a young kid I was much more of an NFL fan. As a young adult I became much more of college fan. As a grumpy, middle aged man, I'm going back to the NFL because the NCAA is a joke, and the lack of parity, not parody......we actually looked like a parody of a D1 football team in the second half on Saturday.
