If enough MWC teams leave, do they disband and we get the four for free? Also, someone on the Tulane board saying they heard a conversation on ESPN radio this morning (I presume amongst talent) about discussions w/ Tulane and Memphis getting $15mil a year in media. That's about as 3rd/4th hand unsubstantiated rumor as you can get, folks! The issue is the same one as the Pac-12. You need nine to vote disband, but the question then becomes whether the ones leaving get a vote or not. If you can get the right number to leave all at the same time, you can vote to disband the conference. Ah, the Pac 12 should bully/broker a deal between the MWC and the AAC. PAC 12 takes the teams it wants, the leftovers of the MWC and AAC join up, TV deals go up for everyone.... win - win?

SLOW DOWN!!!!!! How the hell do we go crazy adding teams when we don't even know how much money the media is willing to shell out? Right now we need two and only two. Once we have 8 we can start negotiating. The media can then tell us how much more they are willing to spend for teams 9, 10, 11, 12.... In the interview I watched, Barnes said he basically has a handle on the media situation, but not at liberty to discuss providers and numbers. Somehow I don't think the 4 would've jumped without at least some strong possibilities.

I don't recall where I read that, but I swear somewhere it was a GOR is negotiable at six. Heck, we have 2 and we're negotiating media deals, so I don't think we need 8. B) Don't slow down too much. We're in the prime spot for the media market. Lots of players need content and you may be able to get a premium. C) It's a message board, we're not doing the actual planning. If we were I don't think we'd all be like "Hey, sign up six new teams tomorrow, let's go!". But from a discussion standpoint, it only makes sense to add more if you add Tulane and Memphis. It would be logically very odd to have two teams sitting off on their own. See: ACC.

"Per Dellenger: In negotiations with potential new members, Pac-12 officials and third parties have presented a plan that features a new media rights agreement worth more than the MWC’s current or future television package, as well as the sponsorship potential of the Pac-12 brand."

I can't figure why air force would ever be a target. I could be wrong but don't think it has some big following, tv viewership.

It's interesting reading the Memphis and Tulane message boards (there are some Fresno St and Boise St fans already there trying to talk up the positives).
They both seem to believe (or at least some subsection of fans) that they will get an ACC invite, presumably if Florida St. wins and leaves.
The majority seem to be okay with the move but ONLY if they get a max'd out media deal and if the PAC pays all of their exit penalties. I'm not sure we could even afford that.
The CBS sports article says max $10 million per school. Of course, that's Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports writing for his overlords. There was a person on one of the boards saying the rumor on BSU's board was 10.5. Then another person saying that Memphis/Tulane were getting $15 million guaranteed and the PAC would pay the difference with whatever reality becomes. And another saying $12 was the number. It's all over the place and just mass speculation.
I think many of them feel like with the loss of recent schools to the Big12, their next media deal will be crap. We already know the MWC's next media deal will be crap. There's not a whole lot of schools left in the AAC that can carry them.
One last interesting thing is that both schools seemed really intent on bringing along UCF.
