The coaches have done a great job of scheduling the last couple of years. Our conference is weak, so they have gone out and gotten opportunities to wrestle the best. Vegas has now become the premier college event IMO. This does not include any opens such as Roadrunner, Clackamas, Menlo, Spokane, etc. I am sure our back-ups and redshirts will have a full schedule as well. I just got sent the home schedule link for tickets this year. What a stacked year! Feels like the strongest schedule I have seen in the CP era! Going out and wrestling top programs on the road and at Gill. I was also curious if we anyone had thoughts on how the conference expansion could impact wrestling. Does Fresno, Boise, SDSU and Colorado State add wrestling? If memory serves, Fresno and Boise had wrestling previously. Unsure on SDSU and Colorado State. Yeah - the schedule is huge - great job by coaches. Best schedule I have seen in a very long time, if ever. Iowa, Ok State, Ohio State in one season and two of them are at home. The AD at Boise State said last week after the Pac-12 announcement that down the road they would like to add wrestling and baseball back. If that's true, it's a few years away. BSU will be spending a lot of money just to transition to the Pac-12. Fresno State had wrestling just a few years ago. I am not sure what will happen there. THey are in worse shape financially than BSU so..... SDSU had wrestling up until the early 90's. I don't know if CSU has ever had wrestling. If I were a betting man, I would bet that other teams that are currently in the Big 12 join the Pac 12 before the new schools add wrestling.

Former colleagues have told me BSU has had a large contingent of well funded boosters ready to start a baseball program. And, have been ready for the right opportunity. Supposedly they have everything in place with an agreement of understanding with the Hawks (which have a nice little facility), and a plan that could be implemented and a team playing in the 2027 season. Some think if approval was given for full steam ahead, the 2026 season as there are lots of good baseball in and around the area. BSU would not be a solid D1 team for a few years, but you have to begin somewhere and build.

Personally was hoping for a shot at ASU. We wrestle everyone else. Add Sparky drop N. Carolina and see what we can do. They lost two of their all americans; which we will see when Iowa comes to town :-)

This is almost verbatim what was said the first go around that ended in dropped wrestling, dropped baseball and a LOT of hard feelings.

They seem to think this realignment is the key to make both happen?!

That could be.... I hope this move does bring back both sports. All the people responsible for the debacle are gone. The way that wrestling went down was the lowest of scumbaggery in the name of adding baseball....which resulted in bringing in athletes, a coaching staff, a lot of money spent only to drop it before it got started. Two programs destroyed at the hands of president Bob Kustra. The new AD in an interview last week said they hope to bring both wrestling and baseball back in the future. I hope there is a commitment to this.

I would love if Boise St reinstated their wrestling program; the more the better

Looks like we had some big recruits in on a visit. I don’t think they have committed and we will have a battle to land them. Seems like ASU is really popular this cycle. Watched the Flo doc on Jax and Basset’s day one of recruiting and it was really interesting to get an insider look at how different staffs push. Both were fired up on ASU.
Alex Taylor OH Nathan Carrillo CA St. John Bosco, #3 Blake Woodward, CA Buchanan Travis Grace, CA Gilroy
3 great CA programs and a stud from Ohio would be awesome additions! Great work by the coaches to get them on campus and Go Beavs!

I think Pendleton and Engel put out the bat signal over the weekend that we landed a commit. Have not heard a name yet…

Great work by the coaches to get them on campus and Go Beavs! Here's the Rokfin blip on who the Beavs had in (Rankings are Willie's) . . . Nathan Carrillo: St. John Bosco, CA - #46 Class of 2026 Travis Grace: Gilroy, CA - #65 Class of 2026 Alex Taylor: Mount Vernon, OH - #94 Class of 2026 Blake Woodward: Buchanan, CA - #122 Class of 2026 California recruiting has been a staple of Chris Pendleton’s tenure in Corvallis and that’s not changing anytime soon. Oregon State had an impressive trio of ranked recruits from California over the weekend in Nathan Carrillo, Travis Grace, and Blake Woodward. Lightweights Nathan Carrillo and Blake Woodward were both top-three finishers in California in 2024. Grace has been a younger guy at a bigger weight and was eighth at 157 lbs last year. Both Carrillo and Grace have high Fargo finishes under their belts. In addition to the California crew, Oregon State also hosted Ohio’s Alex Taylor. Taylor is a 2024 double champion from Fargo in the 16U division.

Looks like Mrs. ScottishSteel is gonna let me make the trip to Columbus to see the Beavs wrestle at Ohio State on Jan 5th. Unsure if anyone else is even remotely in the area but I figured I would throw it out there
