Second 1/1 in five years. Should be good for recruiting. What was the last college program to have two 1/1 drafts w/in 5 years? Honest question, don’t know, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it hasn’t happened very much! LSU had #1 and #2 last year which is equally as impressive. Not sure of another program to have two #1 picks though in such a short span.

Wake Forest had 3 players drafted in the top 10...that's impressive!

Even with what LSU and Wake did the last few years, I don’t think there’s been another program in baseball that’s gotten two 1-1’s in six seasons (‘19 and ‘24). Only four schools even have more than one 1-1 now:
ASU LSU Oregon State Vanderbilt
I think that other one is Vandy from what I read. It might have been Wake - someone correct me if so. But with such a short list I’d bet this is the first time for baseball. It’s probably happened in football or basketball I’m guessing though.

The two overall #1's so close is unique. ASU had Bannister ('76) and Horner ('78). 1st rounders don't necessarily mean an MLB career, but ASU also has the two most successful (measured by WAR). Bonds, 6th overall '85, @ 162.8 WAR... Reggie Jackson, 2nd overall in '66, @ 74 WAR combined have the highest WAR of any college teams COMBINED 1st rounders. Including Stanford's leading 24 1st round picks. Probably a lot tougher to do lately with almost half of the last two dozen #1's were HS players. Anyway... a pretty decent summary here. A few surprises when reading thru... you'd think USC would have be a little higher do to do much early success? www.mlb.com/news/most-first-round-draft-picks-by-school

Both of our 1/1's were fully developed here; a summer with the Knights, then three years at OSU.
Skenes played two years at AFA and only one at LSU.
Two of Wake's picks spent only one year there; one played two years at Tennessee and another two years at DII Wingate. Kurtz was the only guy they alone developed.

I'm a WCL fan and will be glad if they begin using Bazzana as a 'face' of the league. Travis played all summer with the Knights, hit .429, and was League MVP. Adley played 10 games total for the Knights.

Honest question, don’t know, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it hasn’t happened very much! rgeorge is right. Arizona State had Floyd Bannister and Bob Horner selected 1/1 within two years: 1976 and 1978. That is the last time that it has happened. The 1/1 in six of the most recent seven drafts has been from a college program. This is the first time that that has happened in 16 years. And it has never happened otherwise. Several college programs have had the first college player drafted within five years. I think that Louisville is the most recent: Brendan McKay in 2017 and Henry Davis in 2021.
