November 16th, 1:30 kick... AF began selling single game tix today. If you are not buying thru OSU ($61 + $7 fee I believe?) There are some very good seats in the $32-$58 (+$3 fee) on their site.
It may be a bit cold, but the 1:30 kick helps and not many have had a chance to visit the Academy and Colorado Springs is a great spot.

Southwest flies from Eugene to Denver, short drive from there. There's a 5 a.m. flight to Denver. It's almost always on time because it's at the airport overnight. There's an 11:15 a.m. DEN-EUG flight as well that is convenient, gets into Eugene about 1 p.m. |

Southwest flies from Eugene to Denver, short drive from there. SW had a huge sale a few weeks back. RTs were ridiculously low to DEN, SAN, OAK... just did those three as the other trips will be last minute. Think the most expensive was just over $200 pp... SAN was like $150 |

No covered seating so the sun can bake you during the day. Restrooms are crude with mens having a long trough in the floor for the urinals. Stadium sits out in the open, can get windy and feels very different from any other stadium I have been in. Weather can change in hours. Perfectly clear day and then something comes over the mountains.
Things to do:
Pikes Peak, 12 miles west, Over 14 thousand feet elevation, note AFA stadium is over 6,700 feet in elevation.
Note Willamette Pass is around 5,200 feet elevation
Top Golf (super fun, very busy)
Overdrive Raceway. indoor electric kart racing facility (Get bragging rights over family members, ha)
Garden of the Gods, -Cool rock formations, short trails, Nice park
Manitou Springs, Historic town founded in the 1870's. Has that Ashland, Jacksonville type of feel. Close by.
I am sure there are other things but how much extra time do you have?
There are alot of toll roads out of Denver. You can avoid them all on GPS to Colorado Springs.
Btw, Academy has two main entrances with military police manning gates. Not sure how slow it is on football days.

I'd also suggest buying seats directly from the Air Force site. The OSU sections are mentioned on the OSU site (L24, L25, M4) are $61 + $7 fee. With the Air Force purchase you can actually pick your actual seat location. Section 3M on the aisle next to OSU's M4 are $32 + $3 fee (3rd seat or further in) or Platinum Seats for $37 + $3 fee (aisle and 2nd seat).

The only negative I've heard about a game at the AFA is the access and egress can be difficult and time-consuming because there is essentially one road in and one road out of the stadium area.
If course, we Beaver fans know a little big about difficult egress on game days as well. Access, not so much.
The stadium isn't as nice as Michie Stadium at Army, which is an unbelievable venue to watch a game. But from watching on TV, AFA seems to have a good atmosphere and they have been renovating the stadium to improve it. the Cor

I always thought rgeorge, and smails were buddies who liked to team up on people......who woulda thought that discussion of tix to the AFA game would be what tears them apart.....  As for the game, if I made it out that way, I'd be checking out the various sections of the South Platte River......good selection of stillwater fisheries as well. |

The South Platte is downtown Denver, right? It does run thru Denver. I would not be fishing down there though. There are multiple sections upstream from Denver (closer to Colorado Springs) that I would focus on. Also, the Arkansas River's headwaters are in Colorado, and within striking distance from Colorado Springs. |

In the mid-90s I drove from Denver to Colorado Springs... it was like a parking lot for maybe 30 miles. Maybe things have improved since then but I'd check just in case!
