Will San Diego steal the 2nd west coast host spot from us?? Up to 17 in RPI right behind us and won both regular season and conf tourney...and up to 40 wins There is no such thing as a second West Coast host spot. Usually, the West Coast gets at least three spots. San Diego may be taking East Carolina's spot, because the Pirates' RPI has fallen off the face of the Earth. East Carolina does not look like a host at this point.

I don't know the overall 'blown it' count but 'beav-ed it' could easily be the saying in my life time 😄😠Game #2 today between these two squads is looking very good. Wichita up 12-2 in the 8th. Not sure what it would be 'deemed', if misfortune led to an ECU victory. At this point I'm very confident that Wichita State holds on . In my limited understanding of the host selection process, this game 'seems' important. ECU is currently projected as the #16 overall seed (D1 BB)...and ECU has a current RPI of 16 (OSU RPI is currently 17). In a few minutes we'll hopefully see what an ECU loss does to their relative RPI. UPDATE: Final 12-2 ECU loses...and OSU RPI moves up to #16 East Carolina fell all the way to 23. Duke may be looking to play its way into a host spot with an ACC Championship tomorrow. Oregon State and San Diego look like surefire locks for the final two spots with a Florida State win. Duke could steal one of those two spots tomorrow.

The final word on this is that we are probably rooting for Florida State and Tennessee tomorrow. If both win, Oregon State should host. If one of those two (or God forbid both) does not come through, things could get dicey.

Arizona improved steadily this year and finished 36-21. They won the PAC-12 Championship, then doubled down and won the PAC-12 Tournament.
They are being projected to be a #2 seed the the UCSB Gauchos Regional.
LOL

The last that I heard definitively on the subject (several years ago), Santa Barbara cannot host in Santa Barbara. The #2 seed may be the regional host.

D1 still has us at #14...
— The race for the final couple of national seeds/host spots continues to be hotly contested. Indiana State created some uncertainty when it failed to win its conference tournament against Evansville on Saturday night. However, the Sycamores still dominated their league in the regular season, played the No. 19 non-conference SOS, and have an RPI of 10. It’s hard to see the Sycamores left out, but we must discuss the possibility. East Carolina and Mississippi State remain heavily in the mix. ECU was eliminated from the American tournament on Saturday and is down to 23 in the RPI. ECU had a strong showing in the regular season and has a very solid non-conference SOS of 9. However, it’s worth mentioning that the American was the 12th-rated RPI conference. Mississippi State’s only issue is an RPI of 24, but the Bulldogs have star-studded metrics in other areas, with a whopping 16 wins against Quad 1 and 20 wins against Quads 1 + 2. Furthermore, MSU accumulated 20 wins against SEC teams. The other team I’d watch out for is Duke. The Blue Devils are 17 in the RPI and have 19 wins against ACC competition. A win over FSU tomorrow would give the Devils 20 ACC wins with an RPI in the Top 16. That would seem very host-worthy across the board. The three sleepers would be San Diego (18), Dallas Baptist (22) and Arizona (31). The Wildcats have the most compelling case by far of those three teams, with a Pac-12 regular season and tournament title. However, the committee would make history by selecting a team with an RPI of 31 as a Top 16 seed. Arizona checks all the boxes … except the RPI.

Oregon State went 2-1, 4-0, 3-0, 1-0, 3-0, and 0-2. San Diego went 2-1, 1-1, 4-0, 3-1, 3-2, and 2-0. Oregon State finished with a better RPI, a better SOS, a better non-conference RPI, and a better record against non-conference opponents.

Seems like Arizona’s performance in March and April is biting them in the ass for hosting.

Dallas Baptist, with a win, would be very close to Oregon State, if not pass Oregon State outright. Go Louisiana Tech!
Florida State also needs to beat Duke.
Big two tomorrow. I do not think that LSU gets a host spot, if they win, but they could muddle things. It would be cleaner if Tennessee just beats LSU.
Those are the three important games tomorrow.

Seems like Arizona’s performance in March and April is biting them in the ass for hosting. Where Arizona is at, if you flip one loss to a win, it is worth about 6-7 spots. And there is a huge gulf between Arizona and the teams behind them. Two wins that were losses would see Arizona about 18. Conceivably, if Arizona had beat Cal and beat Oregon State in the Pac-12 Championship, as opposed to USC, the Wildcats might be in line for a host spot. Instead, they are probably travelling, unless they host as a #2 seed.
