Cal doesn't get much attention, but it might surprise many to know going back to our series with them they're 19-4 and 35-18 overall. Arizona is 34-20. They have a better overall record than Arizona and a better record over the last half of season. It's far from an obvious conclusion UA will win with even their best effort. For our sake, I hope they do though. 19-4 takes you back to April 9/10. Before that, Cal lost four straight, three games at Evans Diamond to Arizona and a midweek game at Evans Diamond against St. Mary's. And before that, Arizona won eight straight. Arizona and not Cal has had a better second half of the season. Cal has had a better last third to be sure. The half season comment was a liberal usage and rough estimate

We all know its hard to sweep anyone in conference play. Its extremely hard to go 4-0 against the same team.

I'd feel better with Guerra on the bench. He isn't helping the team. That would have been a bad plan! LOL I don't think you can say that confidently. What we can say for certain is that it paid off, though Guerra struck out twice with a runner on and his only hit was that homer.

Look at that OSU pitchers have now retired 6 straight and 11 of the last 12. ....and it continued..... That was a masterful performance by the OSU pitching staff. I didn't realize how thoroughly dominant it was (Beav pitching) until I scrolled through whining Devils Dugout forum. After the 3rd inning, ASU only had ONE baserunner. That's 2/3 of a near-PERFECT GAME !! And the Sun Devils had the best batting average in the PAC-12 this season. On this 'road trip' to Arizona, Beavs are 3-2, and have only allowed 11 runs in those 5 games.

Missed it all but it looks like Nelson had a hell of a game.

Missed it all but it looks like Nelson had a hell of a game. He did! Not sure if the game plan was to go to him, but it was a great call. I thought lefties on the mound were getting a different strike zone than right handers...?

I thought lefties on the mound were getting a different strike zone than right handers...? It looked like the balls that were breaking right to left (from the batters' point-of-view) were being given a little more leeway.

Kind of crazy we managed to lose 2 of those games... Especially when we scored 32 runs. Offense just wasn't there the last 3 games.
