We moved one RPI spot to 14! The win had not calculated yet. Oregon State is back to 15. Wins over UCLA actually hurt Oregon State's RPI. CSUN lost in extras, which stings. Washington beat Oregon, which stings. Arizona State beat Stanford, which stings. Minnesota lost, which stings. Nevada lost, which stings. Bakersfield lost, which stings. Michigan lost, which stings. Oregon State is closer to #13 Virginia than #16 Oklahoma. Flip any of the above nonconference games above, and Oregon State would still be 14th. But here we are.

This is the most stress free game against UCLA I can remember. It's strange to see them having such a bad season. Victims of NIL and the pitch clock. No more four hour games with the Bruins screwing around and wasting a colossal amount of everyone's time. Props for saying Bruins, so childish in the subject of this thread.

Washington beating Oregon never stings, RPI impact or not.

Washington beating Oregon never stings, RPI impact or not. Cutting off your nose to spite your face never does, I suppose. I am super excited about travelling to South Carolina to play in the Columbia Regional. But at least the team that wrecked the nine-team Pac-12 (Washington) won! I hated the Pac-12 anyway. Really held us back. Getting to play in an SEC stadium for a Regional makes me super happy.

Cool story , I'll be rooting for Washington again tomorrow, because our rival is only a game and a half behind us. And I don't want that overrated team to even make the tournament.

If I ever find myself rooting for whoregon because it benefits us......because we didn't do what we should've done earlier in the season.....take me out behind the barn and shoot me.

Couple of observations from last night’s game.
1. This lineup, and team, is better with Trosky playing at third over Guerra. Really sad to see how far Guerra has fallen this year. .330 plus hitter with double digit homers last year to a .230 hitter and an 0-40 slump this year, that’s about as bad a drop off as I’ve seen. Not to mention, he has become a defensive liability as well. Trosky is hands down a better defender, and he puts the ball in play. Didn’t have a hit last night, but also no K’s, and still hitting .299 on the year. Just can’t have Guerra’s bat in the lineup that is basically an automatic out and 50% chance of a K. This lineup has enough power already, we need another on base/bat to ball guy like Trosky.
On the plus side, does this mean Guerra returns next year? If we can return Turley, Caraway, Guerra, Macias, Weber, Krieg, and Trosky, that’s a hell of a team coming back for 2025.
2. What a boost to this offense getting McDowell back. 3 more hits last night and a mammoth homerun. The dude has become a very skilled offensive weapon over his time at OSU. His bat behind Bazanna makes it so dangerous to just give Bazanna a free pass.
3. Macias is a stud. His bat continues to develop, and he is only going to get better. He has a beautiful lefty swing, is really good defensively, and has a canon in the outfield. He’s quickly becoming one of our best players.
4. Kasper might be finding his groove. He slumped a bit this year, especially while battling around that injury. But people forget that he is a .300 plus hitter with double digit homer talent when healthy. He is better than I remembered defensively, and a dangerous bat in the five hole.
Go Beavs!

Right on the money Richard. I have a feeling scouts might look past Guerras slump but if he does come back I hope he gets notes from scouts. He has the goods to make it to the pros in a decent position but he needs to work hard to fill the holes in his swing, confidence and defense.

Comparing basketball and football to baseball is like apples to oranges, especially at OSU. There’s a reason our baseball program chose a different path moving forward compared to the other sports. Our baseball program has the clout to do that, where as the other sports were forced to be relegated to lesser conferences without much choice in the matter. I remain pretty confident that our baseball program will stay strong and united. We always can/will lose some guys, but I doubt any that I mentioned in this post. If Canham and company can deliver on the schedule they have previewed to us, our competition will remain solid. At this point, the pac 12 isn’t great for our RPI anyway compared to the other major conferences, so I’m down to see what an independent schedule can bring.
