Seems to have dropped. Most mocks I had seen had him #2 OT after Alt. Most had him going to Jets #11.

Interesting. 6 of the top 15 picks were from the "weak" pac12.

When will we next have a 1st rounder that just finished his career at OSU? Sigh. I will still enjoy fall Saturdays at Reser, sure, but the level of competition may not be quite the same.

Earliest Beaver selected in the NFL Draft since 1963, when Baker went first.

The Falcons really hosed the Raiders who were hoping to take 1 of those QB’s. Weird pick considering you just signed Cousins.

Weird pick considering you just signed Cousins. I'd hope the Raiders had no interest whatsoever in Nix. I do think they would have chose Penix. But they massively scored just taking BPA. 3 QBs in top 5. IIRC there has been just 3 QBs to win superbowl picked in top 5 the past 25 years. Two are named Manning.

I agree Raiders would of taken Penix, but he wasn't making it past Vikings. They panic traded to move up to lock McCarthy after the surprise move. As for Fuaga, maybe a small tumble, I think he was closer to the #2 tackle than the #4, but hard to really call going #14 a fall. I think in tackles the reach was Tennessee taking Latham. that was a reach, particularly for a guy that probably will be a better guard in the NFL than tackle. Latham is pretty average in pass pro. Latham was projected more of a late 1st maybe even high 2nd player... not the overall #7 pick.

On the "consensus" mock draft database, Latham was listed as the 18th prospect, and Fuaga the 17th, which makes them both "reaches" to a degree. I was definitely surprised to see Latham as the #2 tackle drafted, but a lot of prognosticators had the top 6 OTs in various orders, although Alt was pretty universally considered the top guy. The other 5 seemed to be ordered by whatever trait that particular grader liked best that day.

A defensive player didn't go until right after Fuaga at 15, which is basically unheard of. I actually most commonly saw him mocked to Bengals or Steelers. A few people had him going to the Jets, but I think more people thought the Jets would jump on Bowers the TE. Fashanu was a mild surprise, but also not super crazy.
