Had this much speed in the Outfield? I'm talking the collective speed between all 3 outfielders we have started over the last month or so....
Dallas Cannon Turley
Even when Talt has been given some starts...
Go back to the original group and Micah is fast as well.... Kasper I'd say is middle of the road for foot speed.
But all of those other guys are plus speed guys.
Going back we have had some very fast CF, from Elsbury to Grahm,
Kwan (great base runner and quick), Casey and Larnach not so much in 2018.
I pose to the board the question of do we have the fastest collective Outfield of the "modern era" in Corvallis? I'm leaning toward yes because I can't come up with a faster group.

Meckler, Melton, Boyd was a pretty damn fast group of outfielders. 57 stolen bases between them in 22’. I know the stolen base count doesn’t really transfer as we don’t run as much anymore though.

Agreed, that was a great outfield on both sides of the ball.
I wish we had better metrics we could see as fans to gauge the foot speed of a player. My gut tells me Reeder and Macias are faster than Boyd and Melton. Meckler does have some MLB stat casts on his speed... greek, 29.5 feet per second, to me but he is fast.

Having speed, and utilizing that speed are two different things. Jeff Hendricks was incredibly good in center field. Covered so much ground, never a misplayed ball. Micah was off to a great start, let's see what the trio out there does when he gets back.

In 1997, our outfield was Jason Stranberg in CF, with Tyson Vermillion and Abino Vazquez on the corners (can't remember who played where). IMHO, defensively the best OF we have ever had. Those guys all could fly and caught everything.
Either Vazquez or Vermillion had a game-saving catch in left field to end a game against the Huskies. One of the two or three greatest catches I've ever seen, at either Coleman field or Goss Stadium.
We had good players in the Riley/early Casey era. Just not enough of them.
We hit .340 as a team. We had a guy (Drew Hedges) who hit .765 (13-17) on balls put into play. That's unbelievable.

Might not be the fastest but the OF core or Melton, Meckler, Boyd was probably one of the best OF groups in the country.
