From the group, what is the latest information, possible return date to lineup, etc for McDowell, Kasper, and Caraway .
Thank you!

Of the 3, Kasper sounded like he could be back any time now - was based on blurb I read last week.
I believe McDowell is now dealing with an oblique issue and those can linger.. would guess he's out a bit longer.
Carraway broke a finger. Was initially hearing 6 weeks-ish estimate. So that would make him at least 3 weeks away... he last played in the Utah series in mid-March.

Thank you for the information. Carraway probably will really take some time once back to get going because I am assuming with his injury he has been able to do no hitting or fielding at all.

Id Caraway break his finger on his catching or throwing hand? Which probably has more effect on play once "healed"?

Two weeks ago, a very reliable source told me that Caraway's return would be closer to the four-week time period than the eight week.
Kasper interview indicated he hopes to pinch hit against Stanford.
McDowell: Multiple Choice 1) In the portal to University of British Columbia 2) Quitting baseball to play on Men's basketball team 3) Quitting baseball to play on Women's basketball team

The question is...when Caraway is back, who sits? Obviously, Guerra needs to be moved out of that position. But we still need his bat. Krieg is hitting well and holding down 1b pretty well. Reeder made a leap in production this past series. Not going to be an easy call, but I think I want Caraway to get back on the field.

Certainly a couple good games last week (and he does walk a lot), but I could see him having a reduced role if everyone else is back.

So Caraway to 3b and Guerra to 1b? That would be an easy fix. Use Krieg as DH when it's appropriate. Still, there's something about Krieg that makes me think he's going to put it all together soon and be a terror.

Whether he gets on or not, he stresses the pitcher so that players that follow him can hit. Still, it looks like he may be the odd man out of the infield, when Caraway is ready to come back.

I don't like his strike outs, but sitting on the bench isn't the best way to cure that. I also like his big frame receiving the ball from the other side of the diamond when he's playing 1b.

Something is wrong with either the way that he is setting up in the box or swinging. When Caraway comes back, I am curious as to whether they try and put some time into Krieg's swing to try and get more out of it, like they did with Turley last year or Malone in 2018.

Plenty to like - and this is a good problem to have (picking the odd man out).

With the exception of swatting at Kamatz's throw to 1st in the 9th Saturday and not making that catch, Krieg has impressed me with his defense. When comparing his batting stats to Guerra's I don't see any obvious separation in either direction. Guerra has a higher average with more AB's, Krieg has same # of HR's with less AB's, etc..... you can go back and forth across the line and at the end they both have differing yet a similar number of pluses in their favor. Assuming MC sees it similarly, how do you then decide once Caraway comes back? Defense, base running, other?
