So who noticed the 'jewelry violation' and called it out? Someone from our side, or just the refs?

Rueck said the first he heard of it was at the press conference. I'm pretty sure the refs noticed it. Apparently the ncaa gave noticed to teams and refs that the jewlery rule should be enforced. How a coach wasn't aware of it is strange.

Are you referring to it being strange that the Notre Dame coach wasn’t aware of the rule? or that it was strange that Scott wasn’t aware of why she was sitting out?

Rules - and notifications thereof in advance aside - it supposedly “disrupted the flow” for Notre Dame? What flow? They weren’t exactly on a run when that happened if I recall, and Hidalgo went 4-17 for the game. Not exactly much flow to even disrupt…

Strange that a had coach, nd's in this case, wasn't aware of the rule. I would think that one of their responsibilities is to know the rules of the sport they are coaching. Rueck's attention was on the court and the game being played. I wouldn't expect him to know what was going on on the other teams bench. The scores during the time she was on the bench was 8-7, so it's not like we went on a huge run there. And as for her flow? She was never in "the flow" of the game. OSU shut her down just like they do. As for the "I've been wearing it all season" crap. I drive on hwy 20 a lot. Now if I were to get pulled over going 65mph and got a citation, what would a judge say if I told him that I drive that road all the time and the last 30 times I was going 65 and didn't get a ticket. So why should I get one now? Rule are rules, it doesn't change if they are not being enforced or if you don't know the laws. Last I heard ignorance is not an excuse

17 minutes to get the nose ring out. My first thought when they were working on her on the bench for that long was … yuck.

Where is 17 minutes coming from? She missed about 4 minutes of game time. 5 minute media break between quarters, I have no clue how that is stretching to 17 minutes. Even if there were 2 media breaks that's still short of 17.

It wasn't a nose ring. It was a nostril stud. I believe they screw into a nut on the inside of the nostril. Hence, the twisting action one of the trainers exhibited with the hemostat/forceps she was using. It they use loctite red on the nut it will take a will to get it loose

Interestingly the only period nd outscored the Beavers was the second. Maybe she should have sat out more.

The NCAA informed teams prior to the tournament it would be enforcing the rule, even if enforcement was lax during the regular season (when games are NOT overseen by the NCAA). No other team in the tournament has had trouble with this rule. Sounds as if this was a failure by the Irish coaching staff.

It they use loctite red on the nut it will take a will to get it loose I would wager that the main issue for her was that she could not get it out herself. I bet they were told and that she couldn't get it out by herself, but didn't tell the staff and nobody noticed.
