I believe Bazzana is here because of Coach Dorman's friend and former MiLB teammate at Class A Appleton, WI. who pitched for the M's and runs the NextGen baseball schools in Australia. Bailey would have had to been in contact with Bazzana in 2019 or prior. Mitch took over in 2020 and Bazzana signed with OSU in 2022. FWIW: OSU commits, Oscar Hyde (class of '24) and Josh Nati (class of '26) are also NextGen prospects. See the below post from tailchaser. He is correct. Bazzana is here because of Bailey.

I think what MC and company have done from a recruiting standpoint is pretty darn impressive. Don’t get me wrong what Casey and Bailey did was legendary but that was also a different time of recruiting. A lot of 1st rounders but not a lot of well known players out of HS. I don’t know if Casey ever had a top 10 recruiting class? (Couldn’t find any info on that). Beavs had the #16 recruiting class in 2022 and #2 overall incoming freshman in Gavin Turley. #8 recruiting class in 2023 and #1 overall incoming freshman in Trent Caraway. 2024 class looks solid. 2025 recruiting class looks like it could go down as best one ever. Mind you these kids are committing to a program without a conference. Just goes to show how strong the program is right now with Mitch at the helm.

Missed it but the UW game 1 victory was his 150th win. He's now 151-73 (67.4%). That makes him one of the most winning coaches over 200 games in a head coaching job right now. I think it's safe to say Mitch is a solid hire but still has work to do! Unfortunately for Mitch he is the guy who followed the greatest coach ever for OSU. Kind of like they guy who followed John Wooden. Or following Nick Saban. As you state, he's one of the winningest coaches right now. Unfortunately, expectations at OSU(for most fans I believe) are CWS or it's a failed season. Gene Bartow was the guy who followed Wooden. UCLA lost 4 games in his first year, including one in the Final Four, and the guy just got crucified in the media and by the fans and the alumni. That continued in his second year, and then he quit because it was affecting his health. Mitch, fortunately, never had that type of pressure put on him - Hell, the Gazette Times doesn't even report on the outcomes of most OSU games. So Mitch has been left alone to build on OSU's past successes in his own way, and it appears he's doing very nicely at it, thank you.

I guess you're right, completely forgot about Bailey.
