Watching Duke feed Kennedy in the post only to have her miss from 2 feet is bringing back PTSD.

After the OSU /SC game the talking heads noted that in Portland it was determined that the three point lines weren't consistent...One was the wrong distance from the hoop. Coaches agreed to play vs delaying the game
Don't we have people who check this stuff before the games are played? Or maybe it was the nose ring checker not doing their job

Oregon State may have been tournament host for the Portland Regional but had no responsibility for the court - that was provided by the NCAA and their vendor (see below). www.uppermichiganssource.com/2024/03/18/up-company-builds-basketball-courts-march-madness/ "The facility dries lumber on site, then cuts the wood into grooves which interlock to form the floor. The floor gets shipped to a partner facility where it gets finished and painted.
Almost 800 basketball courts are manufactured yearly, including the Men and Women’s 2024 Final Four games. Floors made for March Madness are portable, shipped in pieces that lock together at the tournament venue. A trained team can construct the court in less than two hours."I'm sure they'll be hearing from the NCAA and may have an "adjustment" to their payment.

Are you sure the floors aren't logoed, striped and painted on-site, after assembly? That's what they do at Gill, when the floors are refurbished. That said, this is an NCAA error. They have oversight and must sign off on anything and everything.

According to the story they are "finished and painted" prior to shipping to the game site. That'd make sense. They'd have a controlled environment in their facility versus painting on-site. They mention that the floors are assembled on site in less than 2 hours. You certainly can't do that with painting. Here's another article - about the same firm from 2023. www.mlive.com/sports/2023/03/march-madness-basketball-courts-once-again-made-in-michigans-upper-peninsula.html"Each court takes approximately four hours to install, led by Connor Sports technical supervisors and a local labor team of 10-12 local workers." Finger-pointing to commence immediately. LOL.

I think there are no more OSU transfers in the tournament (?) A couple of them also made the Elite 8 and bounced. Pretty interesting to see OSU have the players to get there, will still feeding transfers to teams also getting there.

Not women's-tournament related, but America is a better country when Duke loses.
And what a party tonight in Raleigh. Both teams to the Final Four.
The Portland court messup is a fiasco. But it didn't hurt anyone, neither team was penalized.

Lisa Peterson, former uo asst AD for women’s sports and responsible for Kelly Graves and former volleyball coach Jim Moore, who was fired, is now the chair of the NCAA D1 women’s basketball committee and has been in Portland for the Sweet Sixteen & Elite 8. She was out traipsing around the court as the 3 pt lines were being measured. Need I say more?

In the spirit of American Pragmatism: "If a difference doesn't make a difference, then what difference does it make?" Perhaps that's how the coaches looked at it? GO BEAVS P.S. Has anyone reported how inaccurate the 3 point line was? Are we talking 1/2 an inch? A foot? 1/10th of an inch? Without the numbers the story is interesting, but virtually meaningless. ------------------

How much the difference was I do not know, but would also be interested.

Who first noticed the three point irregularity?
Janitor? Coach? Broadcaster? Contractor? Deep state whistleblower?
Better: three point goddesses whose toes know the line.
