We are paying Bray $4M less than Smith. We already had our pay cut over here.

We are paying Bray $4M less than Smith. We already had our pay cut over here. $3 million less. Smith made just under $5 million last year. Bray is making $2 million.

I'm thinking Wayne might take a shave on the Basketball side if they keep him. Football has basically already had their cut. Not sure about baseball or women's basketball.

You would expect at least a 10% pay cut after this season for Tinkle. Get the salary more in line with football and the next six-year reality. Maybe renegotiate the whole contract.

I think he was in line to get a raise to just over $6M as a counter offer to MSU. So, yeah, I think on paper, $3M, but had Smith stayed, $4M.

I'm thinking OSU is generally in a better financial position than WSU. We have more donors, we just had a record revenue year (good timing...). Not saying we won't trim the fat, but I honestly don't see anything drastic this year... yet. I think we see how it plays out when we get a football TV contract nailed down.

We sort of already got to do this without the stigma of a "paycut". Thanks to JSmith leaving we got to hire Bray at a salary lower than his. Smith was going to make 4.85 million in 2024, Bray is only going to make 2 (still a raise from his DC salary). Assistant salary pool (also 4.85 million) will not change. So in reality we already took almost a 30% haircut without the negative press of having to say that out loud. IIRC, we aren't even using the whole assistant pool either since Bray hired mostly young guys stepping into new positions. So we probably shed even more than 30%.
So, thanks for that JSmoooooove... Hope you are enjoying East Lansing

Can't imagine Jonathan is having a great time today considering the food fight that is the leadership of his current employer.

What's going on in Michigan? MSU board agreed to censure two of their members over allegations of misconduct. The governor is considering removing those two trustees who engaged in sort of gangsterism to bully or intimidate MSU administrators and who routinely overstepped their authority.
