So... about the CFP and the 3-3-2-2-1 "formation" No one should have an automatic berth, much less a bye. Earn them, if you are good enough.

(4) conference P4 champs (however they want to determine)... highest ranked G5 and next highest ranked team not already in. With (16) teams... (4) conference P4 champs (however they want to determine) + next highest ranked conference team for each P4... (2) highest ranked G5 teams... next (6) highest ranked teams not already in. That assures each P4 conference two teams... two G5 teams... and then (6) wildcards that will most likely be P4 teams, but a 3rd G5 could sneak in??

The right way to do it...but because of rankings this will result in mostly SEC and BIG 10 teams. Quick read yhrough of past 2 years final rankings and I get 5 SEC teams and 5 Big 10 teams each year (assuming 2024 conference alignment)
