I've said this before, but Timea is getting better by the game, almost by the minute. And she's loving it! Didn't we all enjoy that big smile on her face when Raegan kicked out to her for the three-pointer against Cal.
I predict stardom in her future. Or maybe she's already there.

I won’t name any names but one misguided contributor to this board posted not long ago that TG looked unathletic and slow - or words to that effect.
A visit to the optometrist may be in order for that fine gentleman. LOL.

I recently posted that she reminds me of Kevin Durant.
Shoots long, shoots medium, shoots short, condor rebounding wingspan. Very hard to stop. Simmers with her own quiet fire.

Gardner is a star now, and the primary reason why a good Beaver team became a great Beaver team halfway through the season. That is when she began (whether by following orders or just via increased confidence) to shoot her shot when she had it. This seems simple, but IMO only she and Raegan reliably get the ball in their spot and say "this is my shot, I am shooting."
Scott was asked a few weeks ago who he'd compare her to from past teams and he offered up Devon Hunter. She is a better shooter than Devon I think. She is unguardable. She is a great passer, a great rebounder, a great defender. She could be all-conference, and if she is not it is because she went from generally being 5th on the team in minutes to often being first. (Not criticizing Scott--he thought she wasn't ready.)
Health permitting, she could be an All-American next year. (This is me shooting MY shot.)

Defensively, just think about it. Kennedie and Dom in to give a rest to Talia and Donovyn. That's zero reduction of defensive intensity. Kennedie's motor and Dom's controlled chaos ... Geez!!!

No disrespect to Deven but I think that Timea has already passed her. Timea is by far the best 4 in the current era. The single area that I think she surpasses the rest of the 4's is in her grit. I have yet to see another player get into her head. Every time they try Timea increases her intensity to match or overcome them. Her rebounding skills are a perfect example. We have seen her go from a decent rebounder to rebounding monster. When she goes for the ball more often than not she ends up with it.

Timea's freshman year is a throwaway because of the injury. She has grown exponentially this year in all phases of the game. It takes a while to identify your weaknesses vis a vis the college game and then to put in the work to turn them into strengths. We've seen her do that this season, and she is now living up to her McDonald's All American hype.
Devon was a player who improved every year, and perhaps that was what Scott was thinking in making that comparison. But, and no disrespect to Devon's accomplishments, at the end of her senior year, she was nowhere near as good as Timea is at the end of her sophomore year. Timea's offensive capabilities, particularly her range, are what Devon could only dream of.
It must also be mentioned that Timea is an excellent, excellent free throw shooter - if not the best on the team, she's right up there.

I am old school she reminds me of Larry Bird. Bird cuz she has basketball IQ off the charts, and as Larry Bird did, she makes others around her better. If one reads the ranking reports about TG (prior to signing) she was BONA FIDE then. What she is doing now is what she did in high school... only improved because she is coachable and because she wants to win at the next level. The first I saw her play was last year; she made a x-over move at the cup and just missed a left-handed lay-up; I was WOWED at the time. She immediately reminded me of Satou Sabally (capable of driving off the dribble). This year her quick-release jumper (from anywhere), her post play, her outstanding rebounding (aka Windex cuz she cleans up the glass), her ability to run the court and her team defense makes her more than comparable to Satou. All that and she is freakin' fast. She runs like a track athlete, upright and stretching out the legs. It appears that she has been working on the deadly turn-around fade... unstoppable when perfected, especially with her height and athletic ability. Ellie Mack abused the Pac with the turn-around jumper and fade when she was here. Timea is the real deal folks. It does appear that some are late to that realization.

Beers and Gardiner is the duo we thought we were getting with Jones and Brown. Very different players. For the 23 games Jones and Brown played together '19-20 OSU was the #1 rebounding and shot blocking team in the country.

It would be fascinating to know the "real story" of what happens when players transfer (Jones and Brown)) but that will never be the case.
I think it will be interesting and maybe even very significant to the future success and continuing popularity of college athletics to see what effect (if any) the likely situation where players will be able to transfer every year and perhaps even during the year.
I suspect many of us old timers will long for the days when we were able to watch players we enjoy tremendously (like the group we have now) play on our team for 4 years.
However younger fans not having experienced that may not miss it.
I somewhat equate it to my observations while working for TSA at airports for 20 years.
Older travelers who had experienced no waiting in line, no inspections of baggage and person, etc. when traveling where often very bothered by what when on.
Younger travelers who had no other frame of reference other than the inspections, waiting, etc. were, for the most part, seemingly unaffected.
On another note, it would be great for the Beavs to win a few more this year. However with the teams so evenly matched in the PAC12 and so many close games, who knows?
So Sad to see such a great conference of women's college basketball end.
The United States is a great country in many ways. However I, for one, would like to see a lot less "money driving everything".
I hope that statement does not get me blocked!
Go Beavs!
