Show me someone that is only concerned with how many points are scored in a game, and I’ll show someone that doesn’t know the sport.

How far under the salary cap are the evil empire Chiefs?

Go Chiefs!!!! You can’t ruin my day, no matter how you try! The Niners haven't won the Lombardi since 1996. I was 15. I hate the Niners, but 28 years without a championship, and now they are the plucky underdogs. I felt a lot bad that the Evil Empire in Kansas City had to put down the plucky underdogs from Santa Clara. I am sad that the Chiefs have gone from plucky underdogs to a less-endearing Patriots redux. Congratulations on another Lakersesque/Yankeesesque Championship, Chiefs fans! The nation loves elites winning against a bunch of plucky and overmatched misfits, who defied the odds. The Oregon State baseball fan in me was happy for the Chiefs. The Oregon State basketball/football fan was rooting for the underdog. Chiefs as the underdog blew my mind. Mahomes finds a way. He’s a once-in-a-generation player. I would never bet against him.

How far under the salary cap are the evil empire Chiefs? The Chiefs started around $11.3 million over the cap. But Chris Jones and Patrick Mahomes renegotiated their contracts to finish around $7.4 million over the cap. The Chiefs carried over around $7.2 million from 2022-2023 to wipe out $7.2 million of the $7.4 million. And then there is some clever bookkeeping to make the Chiefs appear as if they are "under" the salary cap, but the real answer is something around $7.4 million over.

Some people hate facts and will do anything to spin out of them. "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."--John 8:32 A lot of teams pull a lot of shenanigans with the NFL salary cap. But you can double-check my math, if you would like. Or you can let me know how it compares to other teams. I honestly don't know. I think that the Chiefs' combined player salaries was the third-highest and it was that high without a ton of players winding up on the injured reserve, which is normally what drives up total player salaries.
