If their seventh-year QB is healthy. Rising graduated from high school in 2018 and has received one traditional redshirt, two medical redshirts, and a Covid redshirt. Ridiculous. It’s not like OSU hasn’t benefited from having 6th and 7th year guys in the past. Sixth year is OK. Everyone got the Covid year, and one other redshirt. Seven years and four redshirts is ridiculous, no matter the school. Other's mileage may vary.

What's ridiculous is not giving all players the opportunities to complete four seasons in college. If they want to learn more and compete, let them learn more and compete.

A 26- or 27-year-old who graduated two or three years ago and is now taking three hours of graduate school per semester/term is no longer a college student. A 26- or 27-year-old competing against 18-19-20-year-olds who must take a full academic load has an inherent advantage.
The old 5-for-4 plan worked just fine; perhaps allow one medical redshirt. Intercollegiate athletics were never meant to be a lifelong pursuit.

Everybody gets a minimum amount of game they can be eligible for, regardless of how long it takes to hit it. Like, every player is entitled to a minimum 40 games where you are eligible and injury free. if you have not played 40 by the start of the season, you are eligible for the season. No longer a "years of eligibility" thing and now an equal opportunity for competition thing.

No longer a "years of eligibility" thing and now an equal opportunity for competition thing. The "game limit" might just lead to similar logistical BS if run by the NCAA?! Are they going to still give waivers for?? Count differently when an injury occurs... if a player is hurt in the 1st qtr, misses 3 will they call it one game missed or?? I've kind of wondered if they just bagged medical RS and use the Frosh 4-game RS over let's say 6 seasons? So, 4 games played or under (doesn't matter why... injury, depth/PT issues) gives you an extra season. A player gets two of those, 6 seasons total, no other appeals. Simplify, with no extra appeals. As stated college athletics is not supposed to be a way of life. Silly me, but it used to be a way to get a free (or almost in some sports) education while doing something you love. The way things are progressing it just will not make sense for universities to keep doling out 8 figure sums to help prop up ADs that still are in the red. Sports will eventually have to be cut in most ADs if they don't have big donor support.

It would be hilarious if Sappington got beat out and sat the entire season. Of course he can transfer again after spring practice if it looks like he won't be the starter. I have a feeling there is going to be plenty of schadenfreude around for us if we want it over the next couple seasons, in general. As ever, for those who have bailed on the Beavs, “Be careful what you wish for.”

I would just give five years of eligibility. No redshirt, no medical hardships. You get five years and if they're all full of injuries, well, it sucks to be a hard-luck case but that's what you are. Now good luck with your next career.

I think they just have to be stricter with it. There are injuries and surgeries that take 2 seasons to come back sometimes. Everything seems worse because of the Covid year that f%#*ed everything up. So this long of careers should just about be over.
