The NFL Network had a really good and pretty lengthy (for TV) interview of Tali Fuaga on The Insiders this morning from the Senior Bowl practice. They showed him destroying a Penn State pass rusher in one on ones and talked about his draft rating (No. 11) and more. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it will get repeated or how someone might find it (YouTube maybe?). Definitely worth watching if you can find it.

Going to be a first round pick and if he stays healthy I think he has a shot at being one of the best right tackles in the NFL within a couple of seasons. He's more of a project at LT and although that spot has been mentioned for him by some draft prognosticators, I think it would be more as a backup role while starting on the right side. I think he's the best offensive lineman to play at Oregon State in at least the past 50 years.

There are a lot of metrics to consider and he will be a 1st rounder, but the NFL is not really a true indicator as it depends what other/quality of the players in the draft. If we talk just their time at OSU the same applies if talking awards, etc. But, the names every knows, Seumalo and Levitre rate higher overall IMHO... and have/had very good NFL careers despite not being 1st rounders. Isaac would be my pick as the best ever. As he started at C as true Frosh and played every OL position except LG. The best OSU OL that people tend to overlook and did not have much of an NFL career at all, yet was one of the best at OSU... ever... Roy Schuening. He he was versatile, started 50 consecutive games, was "the" block for the Sun Bowl conversion. And was All Pac10 as a senior after having to move out to tackle. And, the best we never got to see the full potential due to injuries would be Jeremy Perry. Said to be a sure fire NFL 1st rounder... 2005 Co-Frosh of the year in the Pac10, Outland lists, several AA lists... broken leg in '07, knee surgeries in '08 and '09. A guy Riley said could have been the best OL in OSU history. Cav use to say Perry didn't block he annihilated people. LOVED watching #62 when he was able to play... the aggressive (sometimes too!) and talented OL every coach dreams of... But, any "best" list is highly subjective. Next...

I hope a LOT of QBs get taken in the first half of the first so that Fuaga falls to the 2nd half of the round and my team gets a shot at him.

Not knowing your team or their slot, I've seen him anywhere from 11th (Jets) to 30th (Ravens) and that is with (4) QBs taken in the 1st round. Not sure we'll see more QBs than that?! Tons of OL/T in the 1st round of the se mocks...

I'm not meaning to take anything away from players like Seumalo and Levitre. They are clearly near the top among all time OSU OL. But Fuaga is just at a different level as a run blocker (ranked No. 1 by PFF with a 90.9 grad). It's not close. That takes great technique, not just size. But that combination often made him overwhelming for defensive players. And he had no trouble in pass protection (351 pass plays, zero sacks allowed). So there's a statistical basis for the talk of playing him on the left side. The fact that Seumalo and Levitre moved between positions is more of an indication that the Beavers did not have enough quality starters to fill out a proper offensive line without moving the best OL to the position of most need. They both were obviously versatile enough to do so while at OSU but both wound up at guard in the NFL. And I don't recall any talk about moving either player to tackle (particularly left tackle) when they entered the NFL. There's no doubt in my mind that Fuaga would have been a dominant guard at OSU. Instead, he was THE dominant right tackle.

You mentioned the exact four I think of when I think of great OSU offensive linemen. Levitre is the one that first pops into my head. He went to high school less than 6 miles from the house in which I grew up and his recruitment made a big impression on me. Why? Because the recruiting website I read at the time (BeaverBlitiz with the Daredevil logo?) listed OSU and LSU as the only two schools recruiting him. It made no sense that no other big-name schools were after him if LSU was. But when he excelled for OSU, it made a lot of sense that a school like LSU would have recruited him.

Fuaga is Oregon State's greatest lineman ever. In the past 40 years, only Levitre and Seumalo are close, Levitre probably closer than Seumalo. We never got to see Perry's full potential, which is too bad, because he may have been the best of the bunch.

The more QBs taken, the more quality OTs who will be available at 18.😜

The Raiders will supposedly draft him with their first pick. (#11 pick I think).
