Maybe I could accept this if it was tinkles or any coaches first season but the 10th? Even the most ardent tinkle supporter has to have had enough Utah is doing very well in the first game of their series in Salt Lake City. They beat Wazzu by 32 and UCLA by 46 to start the season. Oregon State at least kept it within 30. Utah is a completely different team away from Salt Lake City, 0-3 so far in Pac-12 play on the road.

Nor do I care how utah does on the road. We got embarrassed, destroyed, toyed with, outcoached, out hustled, etc.. Comparing us to other bad teams just means we are as bad or worse and since we lost to both wazzu and ucla that means we are worse.

And that last sentence might win the award for most depressing line I’ve seen on here in a long time. One expects to see that posted in a sarcastic, mocking way by someone in the anti-Tinkle camp not by a pro-Tinkle guy

My Illini were playing at the same time on FS1, so only watched small snippets of the game during commercial breaks for the former game. By the time the first game was over, Beavers were all but buried and I didn’t want to dilute my Illini victory euphoria by wading into the muck that was Beavers basketball last night. By what little I saw and looking at the box score, I think I made the right decision.
I wish I could find some good things to say. All I got is that young men on Beavers team seem to be good representatives of the university off the court.

Look, I'm not a WT fan... OBVIOUSLY! And, I'm certainly not one to tell others what to post. But...
It's easy to pile on the MBB program, but there is some talent. Kids haven't played well at times. Maybe even not followed coaching. But, other than calling out poor decisions, games, I try to stay away from disparaging players directly.
I comment on WT's recruiting, player development, etc. But, I don't see a need to go off on our Beavers' talent level. They chose to come and represent OSU. In some way they are "victims" of circumstance. Many could be decent role players in quality programs.
OSU isn't that right now. And, essentially role players are being forced to be starters and key contributors. And, even though some have great potential, they were forced into these roles far too soon.
WT's program. He's the individual responsible. I just caution against being too harsh on the players. Besides if history repeats they'll probably be thrown under the bus by their HC at some point?!

I agree with pretty much all of this except for the final sentence. I would be very disappointed, if Tinkle throws the players on this team under the bus. Maybe some specific players off of the 2021-22 team or one specific player who played a half-decade ago. I know people who know Tinkle, and it just seems so outside of his character that I doubt it. Tinkle wants to succeed, and I have to believe that the team wants to succeed. It has not come together yet, but I still believe that it can come together and soon. But we'll see.

It's not like the year JD Vetter was our best player. Good guy, giving huge effort and it's not his fault he happened to be the best player on the team. We have better players now but probably not good enough to squeeze out a 500 conference record.

So when you said “many could be decent role players in good programs” That is 100% spot on. The talent level is there, but they are forced to play outside of their highest and best role. We have a lot of talented guys, but not really any complete players. Pope needs to be #2 option so he can be an actual point guard. Needing to squeeze 30-34 minutes out of Tyler and hoping he gets to 15 points is not fair to him, especially to his defensive ability. KC would be terrifying if he came of someone’s bench and was told “I just need 15 minutes of hell from you boss” Rataj has been rushed back, his legs aren’t all there…..he’s consistently having lines of 30 minutes 5 points 6 rebounds. Basically if this team is gonna win any games, Tyler and Mike are gonna have to combine for 30 points (they way the minutes distribution is) Ndong and Marrs can’t score enough to have them on the court for too long (because the guards outside of J pope don’t create) Pretty much everybody on this team is forced to be a scorer at a level that they are not actually a scorer for this team to have success. Watching Utah it was absolutely eye opening that their guards would get the ball in to 10-12 and dish inside for easy baskets or kick out on a collapse for an open 3. We aren’t getting any of those baskets on our offense.
