It's a cesspool. The whole gawdamn sport is a cesspool of greed and selfishness, cashing in on the fan love and loyalty that's been built over decades, with no concern how their actions will bring it all toppling down.
This is why players have no loyalty. Coaches been chasing the $$$ for years, now the players get a shot so of course they'll do what's best for them.
You really think the players are shedding a tear for this guy? Many are probably in touch with their network to see what other opportunities are out there.
It's all just a meaningless, random collection of coaches and players now. There are no teams anymore. It's sad what has happened to this sport.

It's too bad the adults in the room let the TV networks control the narrative. But, like you said, greed. Everyone is chasing a bag.

I don't think it is. Lanning was not their first choice when they hired him, he came in with zero HC experience and was the consolation prize after Wilcox (and maybe others IIRC?) turned down the job. And for all the hype and rumors, he was clearly not Bama's first choice, either. And really shouldn't have been. Objectively speaking, DeBoer is head and shoulders above him as a football coach, and is 3-0 head to head against him. Lanning has a good thing going for him right now, but he's not a top-tier coach, and his job is not a top-tier job. Is Jonathan Smith a top tier coach and is OSU or MSU a top tier job. You really don't think much of the program here in Corvallis either, do you? Why? Huh? Can you help me understand what you're trying to ask me here?
