Yeah... irrelevant. LOL... "not connected with or relevant to something"... 99.9% of NFL fans know who Bill is and what he has accomplished. May be you word choice is poor?? But, BB is far from irrelevant whether you like him or not. I didn't use that word. Weird since you always like to brag about reading comprehension. Exactly... and is still relevant. Was the point. He's not irrelevant and he became more and more relevant. You also added this falsehood, "Least respected coach (by fans) ever". NFL fans know and would love their team to have had him/his success. He is disliked because of his success. There are multitudes of people that talk of what a great guy he is. But, pretty easy to find fault in posts that claim to know what multitudes of fans think, and use the word "ever". Least respected "ever"... since his days as a HC in 1991, about 150 coaches have cycled thru the NFL and the guy with 6 rings is the least respected?? Good to know... over guys like: David Shula Dick LeBeau Dick MacPherson Gus Bradley Steve Spagnuolo Kevin Gilbride or Lane Kiffin, or Chris Palmer, maybe Hue Jackson, or more recently Nathaniel Hackett I bet a bunch of fans dislike arrogant Bill but respect the hell and wish their teams had his success. FFS... "ever"

Art Briles? Guess that was much more than personality. How about Bo Pellini? I think I have a winner there! You call either of those "hugely" successful??? I guess that my definition of a 6 SBs and two losers with nary a title aren't the same. I was mostly having fun, but thanks for tossing a wet blanket on it.

Art Briles? Guess that was much more than personality. How about Bo Pellini? I think I have a winner there! There’s a lot of very successful coaches that are not good people. Bobby Knight, Woody Hayes….etc. But Knight got fired for sexual harassment, right? Not his general demeanor. Hayes? I don’t remember. Did he get fired? Punching other teams players and camera men certainly was frowned upon!!

FFS... "ever" I don’t feel strongly either way about Belichek, other than the fact that he cheated to get his first Super Bowl against my favorite team (LOL). I do think that he came off surly and abrasive a lot of the time. He and Jim Harbaugh are a type. They are brilliant, demanding coaches who have (for me) unlikeable personas in interviews and general demeanor. I don’t need a coach to just spin cliches or act like everyone’s buddy, but I am a fan of some semblance of graciousness and respect. Speaking of Harbaugh, I’ll never forget when he was coaching in SF and his team narrowly escaped against Detroit at Ford Field. I forget the Lions coach’s name at the time, but he was an intense guy too. Harbaugh ran across the field, smacked him across the back like he’s trying to dislodge a turkey bone from the guy’s throat and runs into the locker room. The Detroit coach actually chased him to the locker room. That said, if I wanted my team(s) to compete regularly at the highest level, I’d take either of those coaches over almost anyone else any day. With the exception of abusive people like Knight and Hayes (way to go Ohio State) a coach doesn’t need to be “likeable” to be very effective and highly respected for his/her abilities. Since a) the Beavs could never dream of luring either of them to Corvallis, and b) I am fond of having a coach that is a likeable guy, it’s not an issue here.

I don't know that I'd compare Harbaugh and Belichick. Other than they are both unlikable winning coaches. Bill just seems like a grumpy old guy who isn't pleasant to be around. Harbaugh seems like a dick that you just want to punch in the face. Two totally different ways to be unlikable, IMO.

IIrc, Woody got caught up in the moment when the other team intercepted a pass and went streaking down the tOSU's sideline. Old Woody stepped out on the field and throat punched him after he was tackled. Brought much embarrassment to tOSU.

Brought much embarrassment to tOSU. 1978 Gator Bowl. A Clemson player (Charlie Bauman) intercepted a pass late in the game to seal their 2 point win. Hayes rewarded him with a punch to the throat.

Never really made sense to me, a late comer to Buckeye sports. Too many mixed messages.
