OSU remains squarely in the mix for Kiana Williams, a jet-quick Class of 2017 point guard from Texas who played her AAU ball for SA Finest, one of the most talented squads in the nation during 2016. Williams took an official visit to Corvallis during September. According to the article below, Kiana's father, Mike Williams, has confirmed that Kiana has narrowed her college preferences to Stanford, Oregon State, and Baylor. Kiana Williams is currently ranked #8 by ESPNW and #12 by Prospects Nation among Class of 2017 recruits. For more info on Kiana's final three college preferences, please read the article below: blog.mysanantonio.com/hssports/2016/09/girls-basketball-wagner-guard-williams-narrows-college-choices-to-three/

I have no idea why anyone would want to play for Baylor's coach. I definitely prefer Rueck's demeanor over her antics.

I feel the same way as beaverfever does above. It would be another major coup if the Beavs can beat out Stanford for an EPSNW Top 25 girls hoops recruit for a second straight year. TV can coach as long as she wants to coach at Stanford, but there are indications that this year may be her last one as the head basketball coach before she moves on to an Assistant AD position or retirement altogether. It is apparent that Kate Paye is next in line to assume the head coaching reins. Paye has been patiently awaiting her chance to lead that program.
I haven't seen reports of any verbal commitments from the Class of 2017 as yet for Stanford. I know that Stanford likes to get all of its major women's hoops recruits in on the same weekend for official visits if possible. By doing so, their verbal commits can occur in groups. Kiana William was reportedly visiting Stanford last weekend. She is a quality student and likely has already applied and received confirmation of her acceptance to Stanford prior to her visit. I have been told that is how Stanford likes to do things.
By all accounts heard thus far, Kiana would be an excellent fit within the OSU program and would play for a head coach in Scott Rueck who is likely to be there for her entire collegiate career.

I think OSU is top-notch, don't get me wrong, but getting access to Stanford's alumni network is a hard thing to match, especially depending upon what line of work you get into. Baylor...I just don't know what the heck anyone is thinking there. Our ace in the hole is Rueck. Although, to be honest, I'd much rather have a C or PF prospect right now than PG. I have strong confidence in our next gen PG.

Another article around Stanford's recruiting of Kiana - looks like Stanford has learned from the fact some high profile recruits have been concerned in the recent past by the (possibly) impending retirement of Tara Vanderveer (sp?) and are connecting their recruits to coaching heir-apparent Paye. Will be interesting to see what sways Kiana.... stanford.rivals.com/news/2017-introduction-kiana-williamsGo Beavs!

It would be nice to win a couple more. I feel like we're letting last season's performance slip away in terms of top tier recruits (yes, I realize we have a couple). We're in the Top X of many of them but have trouble closing the deal.

The old saying "if you're smart enough to get into Stanford, don't be stupid and turn it down."
Next woman up.

We're in the Top X of many of them but have trouble closing the deal. I also think the more elite 8 and final 4 runs we make will help secure more top 10 and top 20 talent. To recruits, we've made one run while schools like Stanford have a much more prestigious history.
