I had completely forgotten about this game; I thought the game was going to be today. Silly me.  But it was great to peruse this morning's headlines and see that Oregon had lost. From an article I read about this game: The Ducks ran a season-low 54 plays. They had three three-and-outs in the first half, a major contributor to Washington building a 20-3 lead.
Washington was 6 for 6 in converting third downs in the fourth quarter...
And this gem: The Oregon quarterback was on the field for a mere seven plays in the entire fourth quarter, and just two in the final 9:04. Not the comprehensive ass-kicking I was hoping for, but it will do nicely. |

Ducks lone “drive” for a score required 2 *barely* converted 4th downs, a highly questionable (BS) PI call, and frankly, a LOT of good fortune just for them to be in position. Other scoring drives all included some kind of fluky breakdown by Husky D (40+ yard scramble from Nix on a broken play, horrible awareness & angles by Husky DBs, etc). It would really have felt like a give away had the *ucks been able to pull it out. |

I I think the whole saga with he who shall not be named leading into the CW was a false rep of our team, and in turn made hole, overrated..... especially on a neutral field. Just makes me ore pissed that noner mailed it in for the CW

I thought the difference in this game was that Washington committed to establishing the run and were successful. Unlike the Civil War game with the Beavers injuries on the OL, the ducks defense could commit to stopping the run and make the Beavers beat them in the air. The ducks obviously couldn’t commit to stopping the run with Penix and the excellent UW receivers. It was a good game.
